Mutually non-mixable light-transmitting insulative liquid and conductive liquid having different refractive indices are accommodated in a light-transmitting liquid container forming a lens unit. The lens unit includes a first electrode which is in contact with the conductive liquid, one or more second electrodes which are insulated from the conductive liquid, and a correcting section which controls voltage to be applied between the first electrode and at least one of the second electrodes in accordance with a gravity direction, thereby changing a shape of an interface between the insulative liquid and the conductive liquid to correct distortion of the interface caused by the gravity.

Lens unit and image taking apparatus

A film carrier support mechanism for a film projector of the type having an upper cylindrical member for accommodating a light source, and a lower cylindrical member for accommodating an optical arrangement for projection. The light source is adapted to project a picture stored in any of multiple frames of a film. A support member is interposed between the upper and lower bodies for supporting a film carrier, which receives therein a film to be projected, such that the film carrier is movable in a two-dimensional direction in a plane which is perpendicular to the optical axis of the optical arrangement. The support member includes guide elements which cooperate with the film carrier to guide the film carrier in a lengthwise direction of the film, while the film carrier is in a predetermined position with respect to a direction perpendicular to a lengthwise direction thereof.

Film carrier support mechanism for film projector

A camera-combined magnetic recording-reproducing system of which the magnetic recording-reproducing unit and the camera unit are used either in combination or independently, in which mechanical and electrical connection parts are connected or disconnected by shifting a moving member and locked by engaging projections, thereby providing simple manipulation for mechanical positioning and locking and electrical connection of both units, the projections being withdrawn when the camera unit and the magnetic recording-reproducing unit are separately used.

A cassette cover opening mechanism has a cassette cover opening member for opening the cassette cover of a tape cassette when the cassette is loaded in a video tape recorder. The opening member has a first abutment portion and a second abutment portion. The first portion abuts against the lower edge of a front plate of the cassette cover to pivot the cover during a first half of the movement of a cassette holder from its first position to its second position. The second portion abuts against the lower edge of one of side plates of the cassette cover to further pivot the cover during a latter half of the movement of the cassette holder.

Cassette cover opening mechanism

In a disk film projector, desired one of frames of image recorded on a rotary disk of film having a central engaging core is placed at a projecting position for selective reproduction of images recorded in the frames. There is provided a drive unit including a rotary driving shaft having its forward end engageable with the engaging core of the disk film. The rotary disk is held in a plane substantially normal to the rotary driving shaft upon insertion of the rotary disk in position within the projector. The disk film is introduced into, and taken out of, the projector only in a direction substantially normal to the rotary driving shaft. The driving shaft is normally urged in a direction such that the driving shaft is brought into engagement with the engaging core of the rotary disk held in the aforementioned manner. The rotary driving member is locked at a position spaced from the rotary disk when the rotary driving shaft is manually shifted against the urging member and away from the rotary disk.
