When a catalyst temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature on a second or subsequent start of an engine since system activation of a vehicle, a catalyst warm-up request is output for the purpose of warming up a catalyst in a catalytic converter. An output limit Wout of a battery is not increased in response to a second or subsequent output of the catalyst warm-up request, while being increased in response to a first output of the catalyst warm-up request. Accordingly, the catalyst warm-up in response to the second or subsequent output of the catalyst warm-up request since the system activation suppresses excessive output of electric power from the battery and thereby suppresses deterioration of the battery. Catalyst warm-up is performed in response to the second or subsequent output of the catalyst warm-up request. This suppresses deterioration of emission. As a result, this configuration satisfies both (balances) suppression of deterioration of the battery and suppression of deterioration of emission.

Hybrid vehicle

Provided are a vehicle and a control method for the vehicle. The vehicle includes an engine, a fuel tank configured to store a fuel for the engine, a grille shutter, and an ECU. The grille shutter is configured to regulate an introduction air from an outside of the vehicle to an inside of the vehicle. The ECU is configured to determine whether or not the fuel is deteriorating. The ECU is configured to control the grille shutter such that an amount of the introduction air in a case where the fuel is deteriorating is larger than an amount of the introduction air in a case where the fuel is not deteriorating.

When the battery temperature Tb is higher than or equal to the preset reference temperature Tbref and the cooling water temperature Tw is higher than or equal to the preset reference temperature Twref, drive control performs the intermittent operation of the engine and controls the engine and the motors to output the torque demand to the driveshaft. When the battery temperature Tb is higher than or equal to the preset reference temperature Tbref and the cooling water temperature Tw is lower than the preset reference temperature Twref, drive control prohibits the operation of the engine and controls the engine and the motors to keep the warm-up control of the battery and to output the torque demand to the driveshaft.

A hybrid vehicle equipped with an engine, a planetary gear mechanism linked to the output shaft of the engine and to a driveshaft, a first motor linked to the planetary gear, a second motor inputting and outputting power to and from the driveshaft, and a battery inputting and outputting electric power to and from the motors. When a cooling water temperature Tw of the engine is lower than a threshold Twref, the intermittent operation of the engine is prohibited, and a controller performs a warm-up control on a condition that a battery temperature Tb is a preset reference temperature T&#x3b1;, while performing a low state of charge control on condition that a battery temperature Tb is higher than or equal to a preset reference temperature T&#x3b1; and lower than a preset reference temperature T&#x3b2;.

An ECU calculates a drive torque request value Td0 (S) when a creep torque generation condition is satisfied (YES in S), calculates a creep torque reflection rate Kcrp using a gear rattle prevention map instead of an ordinary map (S) when a vehicle speed V is substantially zero and an engine is in a load drive state (YES in Sand NO in S) while a forward drive range is being selected (YES in S), and calculates a product of Td0 and Kcrp as a creep torque request value Tp (S). The ordinary map is a map decreasing Kcrp to 0 with increase in brake torque, and the gear rattle prevention map is a map decreasing Kcrp to a predetermined value larger than 0 with increase in brake torque.

Control device and control method of hybrid vehicle

The occurrence or non-occurrence of a certain slip of a drive wheel is detected based on only a motor torque used for driving a vehicle, a brake torque, and a rotation speed of a motor computed from an output of a rotational position detection sensor. In response to detection of the occurrence of the certain slip, drive restriction of the motor is activated for slip control. The slip control is attainable by a brake system and the drive restriction of the motor. Even in the event of any failure or abnormality arising in the brake system or in the event of prohibiting traction control of the brake system in response to the driver's operation of a TRC off switch, the drive restriction of the motor accomplishes the slip control. This arrangement desirably prevents slip-induced unstable driving of the vehicle and damages of devices involved in slip control for the vehicle.

A torque command for a first motor is set by setting a maximum torque restriction and a minimum torque restriction in a range, where the sum of the torques output from the first and second motors to a driving shaft be within a range from 0 to a required torque, the sum of the electric powers input from or output to the first and second motors be within a range of input and output restrictions of a battery, and the torque of the second motor be within a range from a value smaller than 0 by the permissible maximum amount of change to the sum of the permissible maximum amount of change and the previous torque command. A torque command for the second motor is set so that the required torque is output to the driving shaft within a range of the input and output restrictions of the battery.

A reinforcing member spans along a vehicle width direction in a substantially linear form between front ends of a pair of side members. A region of a rear wall portion of an impact-absorbing member, which region is disposed so as to connect between end portions of the side members, is provided with a plurality of protrusion portions which are spaced by a predetermined interval in the vehicle width direction, and includes grooves at outer peripheries of base portions of the protrusion portions.
