This invention provides a pest repellent of the type which is not only applied to the skin directly but capable of preventing harm from the noxious insects, especially bloodsuckers such as mosquitoes and flies, by inhibiting them from entering the inside of the dwelling. The pest repellent is characterized in that it contains hyssop oil as an active ingredient.

Pyrethroid compound and composition for controlling pest containing the same as an active ingredient

An insect controller in which at least one volatile insecticidal or insect repellent compound that volatizes without heating is carried on a support with at least one through hole. The use of a volatile insecticidal or insect repellent compound without heating can ensure satisfactory insect-controlling effects. If a specific structure, e.g., folding structure, is employed for the insect controller, wasteful evaporation of the volatile insecticidal or insect repellent compound can be reduced during non-use.

Pesticidal device

A cockroach repellent comprising 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzyl (1R)-trans-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate {transfluthrin} as its active ingredient and a method for repelling cockroaches by using transfluthrin.

Provided are pesticidal compositions comprising (i) 2-methyl-4-oxo-3-(2-propynyl)cyclopent-2-enyl 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate, and (ii) propylene glycol monoalkyl ether or dipropylene glycol monoalkyl ether. The present invention provides a fabric protectant having an excellent effect in preventing the hatching of eggs of fabric pest insects. The fabric protectant comprises a paper or paper-like sheet carrying 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrafluorobenzyl 1R-trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl) cyclopropanecarboxylate (Transfluthrin) and 1-ethynyl-2-methyl-2-pentenyl 1R-cis, trans-chrysanthemate (Empenthrin).

Fabric protectant

The instant invention provides a pest repellent composition that provides an effective repelling of pests by applying said pest repellent composition onto the skin of animals or people, in addition to repelling pests by utilizing said pest repellent compositions in certain locations. As such, the pest repellent compositions of the instant invention comprise 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzyl 3-(2-chloro-2-fluorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate as an active ingredient and an inert carrier. In addition, the instant invention provides methods of repelling pests by utilizing 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzyl 3-(2-chloro-2-fluorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate.

Pest repellent compositions

A pest repellent comprising improthrin as an active ingredient and inert carrier has excellent effect for repelling arthropod, mollusca and annelida. It is especially useful for repelling cockroaches.

The present invention provides an arthropod repellent comprising a cellulose material having a bulk density of 0.2 to 0.7 g/cm.sup.3 containing carane-3,4-diol as an active ingredient, said cellulose material having the composition supported thereon or being impregnated with the composition. The cellulose material has generally thickness of 3 to 8 mm. The arthropod repellent of the present invention is used under heating condition and shows the lasting efficacy of repellency.

Arthropod repellent and method for repelling arthropods

The present invention provides a shampoo composition effective for control of ectoparasites, particularly for extermination of lice. The shampoo composition may contain 0.001% to 5% by weight of pyriproxyfen, 10% to 70% by weight of an anionic surfactant, 0.5% to 20% by weight of a polyhydric alcohol, and optionally 1% to 8% by weight of a pyrethroid compound.

An arthropod repellent composition containing a monoterpenediol compound selected from carane-3,4-diol-and p-menthane-3,8-diol and a pyrethroid compound selected from phenothrin and permethrin as active ingredients and an inert carrier exhibits an outstandingly high arthropod repellency for a long period of time.

The present invention provides a compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R.sub.2 represents a 1-methyl-2-propenyl group, a 1-methyl-2-propynyl group, a 3,3-dihalogeno-1-methyl-2-propenyl group or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl group which may be substituted with at least one halogen atom; and A' represents a hydrogen atom or a protecting group for a hydroxyl group. The compound is useful in the preparation of esters which can be used to control insect pests.

There is provided an ester compound represented by the formula I: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.2 is a C.sub.1-6 haloalkyl group; and R.sub.3 is a pyrethroid acid residue, an agent for controlling noxious organisms containing the same as active ingredient and an intermediate for producing the same.
