An example of a controller includes a housing including an opening, and an operation member, a part of which is exposed through the opening. The operation member includes a key top exposed through the opening and operated by a user, a shaft portion extending downward from the key top, and a protruding portion protruding from the shaft portion. Further, in the housing, a pedestal with which the protruding portion of the operation member comes into contact when the operation member is tilted is provided. The tilt of the operation member is limited by the protruding portion coming into contact with the pedestal.

Input device

An example game controller includes a housing main body formed by connecting a housing member on a front surface side and a housing member on a back surface side. On the left and right of the housing main body, holding portions are provided. To the left and right holding portions, a pair of grip portions covering the entirety of the holding portions are connected. A boundary portion between two housing members is covered with a grip portion. Thus, when a user grips the grip portion, the grip portion is likely to fit the hand well. Thus, it is possible to improve the operability.

Game controller

This information processing system includes: a controller including an operation element, a restriction member, a resistance section using a magnetorheological fluid whose viscosity changes with an applied-magnetic-field intensity and which serves as a resistance corresponding to the viscosity when the position of the operation element is displaced, and a magnetic field generation section to provide the magnetic field; and a circuit capable of controlling the magnetic field generation section. In a first state, a movable area of a position of the operation element is restricted to a basic movable area. In a second state, the magnetic field generation section is controlled so that the viscosity becomes a first viscosity, when the operation element is in a first area, and so that the viscosity becomes a second viscosity when the operation element is in a second area.

This information processing system includes: a controller including an operation element to be displaced from an initial position by user's operation, a restoring force imparting section applying a restoring force for returning the displaced operation element to the initial position, a resistance section using a magnetorheological fluid whose viscosity changes with a magnetic-field intensity and which becomes resistance when the operation element is displaced from/to the initial position, and a magnetic field generation section which provides the magnetic field to the magnetorheological fluid; and a circuit capable of controlling the magnetic field generation section. The circuit controls a magnetic-field intensity so that the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid periodically changes at least between a first viscosity state and a second viscosity state in which the viscosity is lower than in the first viscosity state so that the operation element returns to the initial position by the restoring force.

Input device, game controller, and information processing apparatus

A game controller according to the present disclosure includes: a housing; and an internal structural body accommodated inside of the housing. The internal structural body includes at least: an internal frame having an installation surface and a recess adjacent to the installation surface; a battery that is accommodated in the recess of the internal frame and has a first surface that opposes a bottom surface of the recess and a second surface on a side opposite to that of the first surface; and a flexible substrate that is installed on the installation surface of the internal frame and includes a conductive pattern. The flexible substrate is arranged so as to cover at least a portion of the second surface of the battery accommodated in the recess.

A non-limiting example training instrument comprises a hollow main body formed of an aluminum alloy. The main body is constituted by two gripping portions opposite to each other with a space therebetween and a coupling portion coupling the two gripping portions. A load sensor is arranged in the coupling portion inside the main body. The load sensor is a load cell, a strain gauge affixed to an interior of the main body, and a part of the main body to which the strain gauge is affixed functions as a strain body. Therefore, if a user applies a force so as to bring the two gripping portions close to each other or a force so as to move the two gripping portions away from each other, a load thereof is detected by the load sensor.

Training instrument and input device

An example game controller includes L and R buttons provided in both left and right end portions on an upper surface of a housing and ZL and ZR buttons provided to sides of the L and R buttons closer to a back surface of the game controller. The ZL/ZR button includes a protruding portion protruding in the direction of the back surface of the game controller and the direction of a side surface of the game controller. This makes it possible to increase the area of an upper surface of a key top of the ZL/ZR button and improve the operability of the ZL/ZR button.

Conductive pattern

An example game controller includes, in each of left and right grip portions of a housing, a vibrator capable of vibrating in a first direction and a second direction. The game controller is divided into a main body housing and a grip portion. The vibrator comes into direct contact with the grip portion on a first surface of the vibrator corresponding to the first direction and a second surface of the vibrator corresponding to the second direction. Meanwhile, the vibrator comes into contact with the main body housing through a holder without coming into direct contact with the main body housing.

An example game system includes a main body apparatus and a game controller. The game controller has an analog stick, a memory storing correction parameter information including a first manufacturing process correction parameter value determined in a manufacturing process in connection with the analog stick, a first user correction parameter value determined in accordance with an operation by a user onto the analog stick, and a first model adjustment value corresponding to a model of the game controller, and a first control circuit transmitting the correction parameter information to the main body apparatus. The main body apparatus has a second control circuit which selects any of the first manufacturing process correction parameter value and the first user correction parameter value and performs game processing based on the selected correction parameter value, the first model adjustment value, and input data from the analog stick.
