There is provided an image-receiving sheet for recording with dye or ink which comprises a base sheet and a resin layer comprising a powdery coating composition which contains a resin component as a dye- or ink-receiving layer on the base sheet. There is further provided a process for the production of such an image-receiving sheet which comprises dry-coating a powdery coating composition which contains a resin component on a base sheet by an electrostatic spraying process, heating, melting and fixing the powdery coating composition thereon to form a resin layer as a dye- or ink-receiving layer.

Image-receiving sheet for recording and process for the production thereof

A coating device is provided for coating particles of a particulate coating composite consisting of particles of resin and particles of an offset preventing agent having a higher melting point than that of the resin on a paper substrate. A pair of rollers are provided to be contacted with each other for fixing the particulate coating composite on one of surfaces of the paper substrate. The particulate coating composite and the paper substrate are heated from one of the rollers, The heating temperature is set to a value which is higher than a melting point of said resin and lower than a melting point of said offset preventing agent.

An apparatus for coating fine particles to produce a thermal transfer image receiving sheet having: a base material supply section 1 for supplying a paper base material; a coating storage section 21 for storing a coating including white fine particles; a development section 2 having a sleeve 22 for holding the coating supplied from the coating storage section 21, a blade 23 for controlling a thickness of the coating held by the sleeve 22, a charge drum 24 having a photosensitive material for absorbing the coating in a dispersed manner from the sleeve 22, and a dot latent image forming device 25 for forming a dispersed dot latent image on the charge drum 24 by irradiating a laser beam to the charge drum 24 to absorb the coating on the charge drum 24 in said dispersed manner on the basis of the dispersed dot latent image; a transfer section 3 for electrostatically transferring the coating absorbed by the charge drum 24 onto the paper base material in the dispersed manner; a fixing section 4 having a heat roller and a press roller, and for fixing the transferred coating on the paper base material; and an ejection section 5 for ejecting the paper base material on which the coating is fixed by the fixing section 4.

An apparatus 100 is provided with: a supply section 1 for supplying a paper base material P; a storage section 21 for storing a white fine particles coating; a development section 2 having a sleeve 22 for holding the white fine particles coating from the storage section 21, a blade 23 for controlling a thickness of the white fine particles coating held by the sleeve 22, and a charge drum 24 for absorbing the white fine particles coating from the sleeve 22; a transfer section 3 for electrostatically transferring the white fine particles coating absorbed by the charge drum 24 onto the paper base material P; a fixing section 4 having a heat roller 41 and a press roller 42, and for fixing the white fine particles coating on the paper base material P; and a ejection section 5 for ejecting the paper base material P fixed the white fine particles coating by the fixing section 4. By using the apparatus 100, the thermal transfer image receiving sheet S on which a high quality image can be formed, is produced easily.

A color sheet comprising; a flexible substrate or film; and a dye layer formed on the substrate including a sublimating dye of yellow, magenta or cyan and a near infrared absorbing pigment with a near infrared absorption without a substantial visible absorption. A color transfer method comprises the steps of: preparing a color sheet above mentioned; abutting the dye layer of the color sheet onto an image receiving sheet to be printed; and irradiating an optical laser beam to the dye layer, the laser beam having a wavelength in the near infrared region absorbed by the near infrared absorbing pigment, whereby a light energy absorbed by the near infrared absorbing pigment is converted into a heat energy thereby sublimating the sublimating dye and transferring the sublimated dye onto the image receiving sheet arranged so as to face the dye layer. As a result, a recording speed and a resolution are remarkably improved with the color sheet and the color transfer method using it.
