A video camera has a body with a rear surface at which a battery unit is normally mounted, a remote control receiver has front and rear surfaces respectively mating with the rear and front surfaces of the camera body and battery unit, respectively, interengageable coupling devices at the front and rear surfaces of the remote control receiver and camera body and at the rear and front surfaces of the remote control receiver and battery unit, respectively, so that the battery unit can be mounted directly at the rear of the camera body or with the remote control receiver between the camera body and the battery unit.

Video camera

An adapter pack is constructed so that it can be connected to a video camera via the site via which the battery pack is normally connected. The adapter pack is itself provided with a mounting site on which the battery pack can be connected. This construction allows the adapter pack to be operatively 'sandwiched' between the battery pack and the camera. The adapter pack is arranged to permit the power from the battery pack to be supplied both to its own circuitry and therethrough to the camera.

A compact, battery-powered video camera comprises a camera body provided with a built-in VTR deck, a viewfinder and a built-in microphone, a first battery mount formed integrally with the camera body, an accessory adapter provided at least with video/audio output terminals and capable of being detachably joined to the first battery mount, a second battery mount formed integrally with the accessory adapter, and a battery package capable of being detachably joined to the second battery mount. When the video camera is used only for recording pictures, the accessory adapter is removed from the camera body, and the battery package is joined directly to the first battery mount to reduce the size and weight of the video camera. In reproducing recorded pictures, the accessory adapter is joined to the first battery mount, the battery package is joined to the second battery mount, and the video camera is connected electrically through the accessory adapter to a television receiver.

A circuit for controlling a load, such as lamp for a camera, so that the lamp can be turned ON and OFF in response to a low-power signal without requiring a relay, includes a detector for preventing the lamp from being powered when the DC voltage, as supplied by a battery, falls below an acceptable reference level. A completely transistorized circuit replaces the relay and includes a self-holding circuit. Low voltage detection is accomplished using a Zener diode to set the reference voltage.

For providing high-quality reproduction of audio in a video tape recorder (VTR), the video and audio signals are recorded as first and second mixed signals in successive alternately arranged adjacent first and second parallel record tracks, respectively, extending obliquely on a magnetic record tape, with the first and second mixed signals being comprised of respective carriers of different frequencies which are modulated by an audio signal to constitute respective FM audio signals mixed with a video signal. In a normal reproducing mode of the VTR, in which the tape is advanced at a normal speed corresponding to that used for recording, magnetic heads scan substantially along the adjacent first and second record tracks in succession for alternately reproducing the first and second mixed signals therefrom, the FM audio signals are separated from the reproduced mixed signals and then are demodulated for obtaining therefrom respective alternately reproduced portions of the audio signal, and the alternately reproduced portions are sequentially combined to reconstitute the audio signal therefrom. In another reproducing mode in which the tape is advanced at other than its normal speed, the heads scan imperfectly along the record tracks so that the mixed signals are reproduced therefrom with noise particularly when the heads are situated adjacent end portions of the tracks being imperfectly scanned, and a noise compensating circuit is operative, in that other reproducing mode, for removing the noise from the reconstituted audio signal.
