The outer shape of an airbag is formed by an airbag main body. The airbag has an insertion opening, which extends along the periphery of the airbag. The gas generator includes bolts. The lower part of the airbag main body is configured by a lower fabric portion, which has first insertion holes in the periphery. The bolts are inserted into the first insertion holes and fastened to the seat portion. A harness, which is connected to the gas generator, is drawn out of the airbag main body through the insertion opening. Among the first insertion holes, the one that is farthest from the harness is a first specified insertion hole. The lower fabric portion has a first slit, which extends from the inner periphery of the first specified insertion hole in a direction away from the adjacent general insertion hole.

Seat cushion airbag apparatus

A seat cushion airbag apparatus is applied to a vehicle seat including a seat unit having a seat cushion supported, from a lower side thereof, by a supporting portion of a seat frame, and an air blowing duct having a blow-out port below the seat cushion, wherein a conditioning air flowing through the air blowing duct is blown out upward from the blow-out port. An inflator is disposed at a location, which is spaced from the blow-out port in a front and rear direction of a vehicle, and an airbag is inflated between the supporting portion and the seat cushion by an inflation gas supplied from the inflator so that a seat face of the seat unit is raised to prevent a subject to be restrained on the seat unit from being moved forward.

A seat cushion airbag device mountable to a vehicle seat, includes an airbag includes an inflation portion including an upper fabric portion and a lower fabric portion joined to form a bag shape. The inflation portion is inflated between a support portion and a seat cushion of the vehicle seat by an inflating fluid supplied in response to an impact applied to the vehicle from a front side, such that a seat surface of the seat portion bulges, thereby suppressing a forward movement of an object to be restrained on the seat portion. The airbag further includes a restriction member which extends in a front-rear direction of the vehicle seat within the inflation portion and which bridges the upper fabric portion and the lower fabric portion to restrict an inflated thickness of the inflation portion in the upper-lower direction.

Seat cushion airbag device

A seat cushion airbag device mountable to a vehicle seat that includes: a seat section including a seat cushion supported by a support section; and a blower duct having an outlet provided below the seat cushion so as to allow air-conditioning air to be ejected upward. The cushion airbag device includes an airbag, at least a part of which is inflated with an inflating fluid such that a seat surface of the seat section is bulged out. The airbag includes a folded portion. Before the airbag is inflated with the inflating fluid, the airbag is disposed at a position on a front side of the outlet while the folded portion is folded such that the outlet is exposed from the airbag. When the airbag is inflated, the folded portion is deployed so as to extend to a position on a rear side of the outlet.

A seat cushion airbag apparatus is applied to a vehicle seat having a seat portion. The seat portion has a seat cushion that is supported from below by a support portion of a seat frame. The apparatus raises a seat face of the vehicle seat, thereby restraining an object on the seat face to prevent the object from moving forward. The apparatus includes an airbag, an inflation fluid generator, and a contact preventing member. The airbag is arranged between the support portion and the cushion. The inflation fluid generator supplies inflation fluid for inflating the airbag, thereby raising the seat face. The contact preventing member is arranged between the support portion and the airbag. A part of the contact preventing member that is in the vicinity of the support portion is flexible. The contact preventing member prevents the airbag from contacting the support portion when the airbag is inflated.

A side airbag apparatusincludes an airbagand a guide member, which guides inflation and deployment of the airbag. The airbagis fixed to a right side wallof a seat frame. A part of the airbagprotrudes further forward than a front endA of the right side wall. The airbagis supplied with gas from an inflator, so as to be inflated and deployed in a space between a body side portion of a vehicle and an occupant seated in a front seat. The guide memberguides the airbagforward when it is inflated and deployed. The guide memberincludes a guide portionand a first bending portion, which extends from the guide portion. The guide portionis arranged to face a surface of the airbagfacing the interior of the vehicle at least in an area forward of the right side wall. The first bending portionis flexed rightward when receiving load from the left. Also, the first bending portionrestricts the guide portionfrom being flexed leftward when receiving the force of inflation and deployment of the airbag

Side airbag apparatus

An airbag apparatus according to the present invention includes a gas generator and an airbag. The airbag includes a panel sheet and a recess defined inwardly with respect to the airbag. The airbag is formed in a bag-like shape by folding the panel sheet in two and sewing the circumference of the panel sheet. The panel sheet has a first folding line and an inward folding portion including a line extending from the first folding line and arranged in a circumferential portion of the panel sheet. The inward folding portion includes a second folding line by which the inward folding portion is defined, a third folding line extending along the line extending from the first folding line, and an insertion opening through which the gas generator is inserted into the airbag. The recess is provided by folding the inward folding portion along the second folding line inwardly with respect to the airbag, re-folding the airbag in two along the third folding line, and sewing the circumference of the inward folding portion together with the circumference of the panel sheet.

Airbag apparatus and airbag folding method

A side airbag apparatus includes an airbag, an inflator and a limited thickness portion. The inflator supplies gas to the airbag. When the airbag is inflated and deployed, the limited thickness portion limits the inflation of the airbag such that the thickness of a portion of the airbag corresponding to an elbow portion of an occupant on the seat is less than the thickness of the remainder of the airbag with respect to the measurement between the occupant and the body side portion. The airbag includes an inflation portion that entirely surrounds the limited thickness portion and is inflated with gas from the inflator. This prevents an elbow portion of the occupant from receiving an excessive force directed laterally inward.
