Provided is an operation device which allows various kinds of operation information to be input to a main body thereof as needed without unnecessarily increasing the weight of the operation device. The operation device includes: the main body having a shape elongated from one end to another end; a light emitting member provided to the one end of the main body; and a connection portion provided to the other end of the main body, to which an arbitrary one of a plurality of other operation devices is to be connected.

A method for forming a metal silicide layer in a self-aligned manner on a source region and a drain region and a gate electrode of a semiconductor device formed on a semiconductor substrate, the method comprising the steps of: depositing a cobalt film over an entire surface of the semiconductor device formed on the semiconductor substrate, forming the metal silicide layer on the source region and drain region and the gate electrode by performing a heat treating thereof, and etching away an unreacted cobalt remaining on the semiconductor substrate using an admixture solution made of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and water, having relative concentration ratio ranging from 1:1:5 to 3:1:5, at a solution temperature of 25 to 45&deg; C., with an etching time of 1 to 20 minutes.

Method for forming a silicide layer

A teaching machine is used with a card to pose a question to a user of the machine and to accommodate both a first case wherein a voice signal is audibly reproduced before the user enters his answer to the question into the machine and a second case wherein a voice signal is audibly reproduced after the user enters his answer into the machine. The machine includes a signal reproducer that cooperates with a card upon which a control signal, a correct-answer signal encoding a correct answer to the question and a voice signal are recorded and that reproduces the recorded signals from the card. A user of the machine enters a test answer to the question into the machine via a keyboard. A first memory responds to the correct-answer signal as reproduced by the signal reproducer for storing the correct answer, and a second memory responds to the keyboard for storing the test answer. A comparator responds jointly to the first and second memories for comparing the correct answer and the test answer and producing an output signal in accordance with the comparison. Lamps responsive to the comparator output signal indicate whether or not the test answer is correct. An audio channel jointly responsive to the control signal and the voice signal as reproduced by the signal reproducer audibly reproduces the voice signal before making the comparison in the first case and after making the comparison in the second case.

A recording method for a magnetic tape attached to a card is provided in which an audio signal from a master recorder is pulse coded by a PCM conversion circuit and stored in a solid memory of a predetermined capacity, and the stored signal is read repetitively by a control signal, then converted into an analog audio signal and recorded on one of the channel tracks of the magnetic tape in the slave side recorder while a cue signal formed at a predetermined timing in correspondence to the audio signal is recorded repetitively on the other channel track of the magnetic tape.
