An image recording apparatus having an exposure unit, a pressure developing unit and a thermal fixing unit. The apparatus employs a separate type image recording mediums including a microcapsule sheet and a separate developer sheet. The thermal fixing unit applies heat to the developer sheet carrying an output image thereon. A heat application means of the thermal fixing unit is positioned spaced away from the imaging surface of the developer sheet for avoding direct contact therewith.

Image recording apparatus

An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a photosensitive recording medium by exposing the photosensitive recording medium to light by way of a mask member which is placed on an exposure station. The apparatus comprises a first transport device which transports the mask member through the exposure station and a second transport device which transports the photosensitive recording medium through the exposure station. A first exposure unit irradiates light upon the photosensitive record medium by way of said mask member at the exposure station to record an image formed on the mask member on the photosensitive recording medium. Alternatively, when a mask member is not used, a second exposure unit directs light through an auxiliary member having a light-passing image thereon to project and record the light-passing image onto the photosensitive recording medium.

Image recording apparatus having secondary exposure unit

An image recording apparatus using a set of mask members and having mask position adjusting device. A transparent mask member supporting plate is provided at the exposure position. Each of the mask member is delivered upon the mask member supporting plate by two pairs of rollers. In this mask delivery, a mask image surface faces upwardly. An elongated photosensitive recording medium is positioned immediately above the mask member supporting plate so as to guide the medium at the exposure position. Further, an exposure device including a light source and color filters is positioned below the mask member supporting plate. The mask member undergoes positional adjustment at the exposure position. For this, the mask member supporting plate is supported on a positioning frame which is movable in a direction perpendicular to the mask member moving direction. The position of the mask member with respect to the running direction thereof is controllable by controlling rotations of two pairs of rollers, and the mask position with respect to its tranverse direction is controllable by controlling the movement of the positioning frame.

In one of the embodiments of the invention, a plurality of originals is sequentially optically scanned and the image bearing light is applied to each of a plurality of photosensitive recording sheets to form a latent image corresponding to one of the originals. The photosensitive recording sheet is brought to facial contact with a developer sheet to develop the latent image and provide a visible image on the developer sheet. The developer sheet is circulated so that it is again brought to facial contact with the subsequent photosensitive recording sheet on which another latent image is formed by optically scanning a different original. In this manner, a plurality of images on different originals are recorded in superposition on a single recording medium. In another embodiment of the invention, an image of a single sheet of original is analyzed to a character image and images of primary color components. A predetermined number of mask members are provided each having a light shielding image corresponding to each of the analyzed images. Latent images of the primary color components are formed on a single photosensitive recording sheet in superposition and the latent image of the character image is formed in another photosensitive recording sheet. The latent images of these two are developed in superposition on a single developer sheet.
