A display device includes: a light source section; an optical modulator modulating light from the light source section based on a picture signal, to emit modulated light as picture light; a direct-view display section performing direct-view display based on the picture light; a projection optical system performing projection display on a projection screen based on the picture light; an optical member allowing the picture light from the optical modulator to travel toward at least one of the direct-view display section and the projection optical system; and a switching section performing control of traveling direction of the picture light on the optical member, to switch between two or more display modes which are selected, to include a two-way display mode, from a group consisting of a direct-view display mode, a projection display mode, and the two-way display mode.

Display device

A compact and light flying head type magneto-optical head apparatus is provided. The magneto-optical head apparatus () of the present invention comprises a suspension () whose one end is fixed to a lower surface of an arm (), a slider () fixed to a free end of the suspension (), and a magnetic modulation coil () and an object lens () mounted on the slider (). The slider () mounted with the magnetic modulation coil () and the object lens () floats due to a wind pressure caused by rotation of an MO disk (). The magneto-optical head apparatus () is further provided with a collimeter lens () between a light source () and the object lens () in a hybrid optical apparatus () provided to the arm (), and a position of the collimeter lens () can be adjusted vertically along an optical axis O-O by a collimeter actuator (), so that optical conditions between the light source () and the object lens () are improved.

Optical head device, and optical recording/reproducing device

An optical pickup device and optical disc apparatus of the present invention include an optical element that prevents the incidence of light on unnecessary portions of the optical element so that stray light and noise are eliminated. The optical element include at least one substrate having a plurality of lens substrates that have embedded lenses made of a material with a higher refractive index than the at least one substrate. A shielding means limits the optical path so that incident light propagates only within a prescribed optical path formed on a light incidence-side or emission-side surface of one of the lens substrates. In addition, the shielding means is formed from an absorptive or reflective film placed in a region outside the prescribed optical path or through machining the region outside the prescribed optical path.

Optical pickup device with shielding to limit incident or emitted light

An optical element and manufacturing method of the present invention prevent the incidence of light on unnecessary portions of the optical element so that stray light and noise are eliminated. Optical element and manufacturing method for same

A disc cassette comprises a case in which a recording disc is rotatably received. The case has an opening through which the disc is exposed. A bridge defined by the case extends across a mouth portion of the opening. A slide bar is arranged beside the bridge in a manner to move axially therealong. A shutter is connected to the slide bar to move therewith. The shutter selectively opens and closes the opening in accordance with axial movement of the slide bar. The slide bar has a base portion which comes beside the bridge when the shutter takes the open position, and the base portion is formed with a recess which faces in a direction away from the center of the disc recording medium.

Disc cassette

An optical pickup device capable of irradiating laser beams on a signal recording surface of magneto-optical disk is provided. The optical pickup device so provided includes a separate optical system whose moveable portion is reduced in weight in order to cope with high-speed access.

Optical pickup device in recording and/reproducing apparatus

A recording and reproducing apparatus having a holder for holding an inserted cartridge with a recording medium stored therein in which a recording medium is loaded or unloaded at the recording and reproducing position for recording and/or reproducing information as the holder is elevated or lowered, including a driver on which the recording medium rests at the recording and reproducing position and driving the recording medium for recording and/or reproduction and an elevator having an elevating and lowering operation cam formed on its side portion and elevating or lowering the holder when it is slid in parallel to the direction in which the cartridge is inserted. The elevator includes first and second slide members each having cam grooves formed on its side surfaces and the first and second slide members are coupled together with a predetermined clearance such that they can be fine moved relatively, whereby the cartridge with the recording medium stored therein can be loaded and unloaded stably and reliably.

Recording and reproducing apparatus

A disk cartridge is provided for storing a recording disk in a space formed by fastening an upper half and a lower half. At least either the upper half or the lower half has a pair of groove portions defined on its right and left side surfaces from the front end to the central portion direction so as to oppose a mis-insertion preventing protrusion portion formed on a disk drive. Engagement concave portions which are engaged and held by the holding member disposed within the disk drive when the disk cartridge is loaded into the disk drive are provided on the inner surfaces of the groove portions.
