There is disclosed a home care system in which a center terminal and a patient terminal are detachably connected to each other through communication lines, such as a public telephone line, an ISDN (integrated services digital network), a CATV (cable television), a radio and the like, and further to center terminals and patient terminals which constitute such a home care system. The patient terminal has an urgency transmitter device for transmitting a predetermined urgency code to the center terminal, and the center terminal comprises an urgency receiver device for receiving, while connected to a first patient terminal, the urgency code transmitted from a second patient terminal, and an urgency alarm device for informing of the fact that the urgency code has been received.

In the ultrasonic printing method, some or all of a plurality of ultrasonic oscillators are selectively driven in such phases that a difference in phase at a predetermined point between a reference ultrasonic wave from one of the selected ultrasonic oscillators and another ultrasonic wave from any other one of the selected ultrasonic oscillators is equal to or less than one-fourth a wavelength of the ultrasonic waves in a transmission medium for the ultrasonic waves from the selected ultrasonic waves to the predetermined point. There is provided an ultrasonic printer in which convergent ultrasounds are radiated to emit an ink near a convergent point of the convergent ultrasounds in the form of an ink droplet and deposit the ink droplet on a recording medium such as a paper sheet, thereby performing a recording on the recording medium with multiple ink dots, with higher resolution. The ultrasonic printer has a plurality of ultrasonic transducers which transmit phase-controlled ultrasonic waves to form an convergent ultrasonic acoustic beam.

A method and apparatus for performing biomagnetic imaging to determine the location and intensity of current sources within a subject includes a sensor unit for sensing the magnetic field within the subject and for providing sensing signals. A signal processor defines a grid having multiple grid points and performs inverse estimation to determine the distribution of current sources on the defined grid based on the sensing signals. The signal processor then modifies the grid to improve the resolution of the current sources distributed on the grid. A control unit controls the operation of the signal processor and processes image data to provide magnified and non-magnified displays on a display unit. The biomagnetic imaging method and apparatus can be combined with a system for providing magnetic resonance imaging data so as to produce a superimposed display including an MRI image and a biomagnetic image.

In a method/apparatus of the present invention, a plurality or pickup coils are employed at a plurality of detection points so as to measure magnetic field intensities induced from electric current generated on living organ: the detection points are spatially interpolated/extrapolated; equations to determine relations of a hypothetically located current to the magnetic field intensities at the detection points and the interpolated detection points are established; the magnetic field intensities are measured with the pickup coils; magnetic field intensities are estimated at the interpolated/extrapolated detection points from the magnetic field intensities measured by the pickup coils; and the hypothetically located electric current is calculated by applying said magnetic field intensities at the detection points and said interpolated/extrapolated detection points to said equation. Thus, the electric current value is estimated. The calculation is preferably carried out by a SVD method, where the hypothetically located current is placed at plural current source positions. Matrix constants in the SVD calculation is determined in advance to allow a quick calculation. The interpolated/extrapolated point may be determined according to a linear method or a spline method, or depending on the current location, or on the spatial differentiation of the magnetic field intensity, or may be changed with time.

The present invention relates to an ultrasonic echographic diagnostic apparatus which is capable of displaying the characteristics and properties of tissue, such as the maximum displacement of tissue, the hardness of tissue, the velocity of propagation of vibrations through tissue, and the magnitude and direction of movement of tissue, in various display modes. The apparatus is capable of detecting and displaying the displacement of tissue caused by heartbeat or external pressure in a real-time mode by calculating the minute displacement of tissue or the differential of the same, calculating a temporal local maximum of the minute displacement varying with time, time corresponding to the temporal local maximum, the gradient of the time and the absolute magnitude of the gradient, and displaying the results of the calculations. In another aspect of the invention, the apparatus specifies a desired point or points and a desired direction or directions in a tomogram, determines calculating data passing a desired point and extending along a desired direction, for a plurality of tomograms obtained at different times, respectively, by interpolating the data signals, determines the displacement of the desired point in the desired direction or the rate of change of the displacement on the basis of the calculating data, and displays the information calculated on the basis of the displacement or the rate of change of the displacement.

An ultrasonic probe for use in hollow organs such as blood vessels of a living body and in other hollow objects of structures such as pipes, includes a piezoelectric transducer, a reflector and a rotor all housed in a tube. The rotor moves and/or rotates the piezoelectric transducer and/or the reflector and is driven by a stator located outside the object under examination.

An estimated current dipole displaying system in which a weak magnetic field generated from the heart or brain is measured to estimate the position, direction, magnitude and depth from a body surface of a current dipole which is equivalent to a heart current or a current flowing in a nerve and the estimated current dipole is displayed on a two-dimensional display. A parameter, other than that used to indicate the magnitude and those inappropriate for combined use with the magnitude indicating parameter, is used as a depth indicating parameter and the current dipole is thus displayed.

An Ultrasonic Equipment and its Catheter-type Ultrasonic Probe can be inserted in capillaries such as blood vessels, and comprises a catheter-type ultrasonic probe for generating ultrasonic waves by a piezoelectric transducer arrayed at its tip. A plurality of the piezoelectric transducer segments are arrayed on a two-dimensional plane, perpendicular or approximately perpendicular to the insertion direction of the probe into a capillary with their ultrasonic wave emitting surface faced in the insertion direction. The applicator according to the present invention applies an ultrasonic gel to an ultrasonic wave radiating surface of a probe. The applicator includes a container containing the ultrasonic gel, a belt partly immersed in the ultrasonic gel in the container and partly protruding therefrom and exposed to the outside, and a belt drive unit driven by rollers for drawing up the ultrasonic gel in the container to an exposed position outside of the container.
