A book block supplying machine includes a reader which reads job information from an information portion printed on a book block; and a timing adjusting portion which adjusts a supply timing at which the book block is fed toward the book binding machine. A controller includes: a job information acquisition portion which acquires the job information; an upper limit processing speed acquisition portion which acquires an upper limit processing speed; a making speed decision portion which adopts and decides the making speed; a making speed instruction portion which instructs the book binding machine to make the bound material at the making speed; a timing decision portion which decides the supply timing based on the making speed, upper limit processing speed and accumulating number; and a timing instruction portion which instructs the timing adjusting portion to supply the book block at the supply timing.

Book binding system

A folding machine folding a sheet Pinto a predetermined folding pattern to form a signature P, a saddle stitching machinearranged downstream of the folding machine to staple and fold the signature and a control unitcontrolling the folding machine and saddle stitching machine are provided. The folding machine has parameters adjustable depending on a thickness of the sheet. The saddle stitching machine has parameters adjustable depending on a thickness of the signature P, P. The control unit sets the parameters of the folding machine based on the information about the thickness of the sheet and sets the parameters of the saddle stitching machine based on the information about the thickness of the signature calculated using the information about the thickness of the sheet and the information about the folding pattern of the folding machine.

Saddle-stitch bookbinding system

This system is provided with: a conveying devicethat conveys paper P along a conveying path F; a sheet paper supply device, paper-folding device, or cutter connected to an upstream end of the conveying path; a gathering devicedisposed midway through the conveying path; a saddle stitch deviceconnected to a downstream end of the conveying path; and a management unitthat collectively controls the conveying device, the sheet paper supply device, the paper-folding device, the cutter, the gathering device, and the saddle stitch device. The gathering device can switch operation between a non-operating mode, a first operating mode for operating as a primary gathering device, and a second operating mode for operating as a paper insertion device.

Saddle-stitch book binding system

An edge portion of a bound material is provided with first and second lines. The first and second lines are spaced at a small interval and arranged in parallel to each other. The first line is arranged outside of the second line of the bound material. A control unit controls first and second drive mechanisms in such a manner that the edge portion of the bound material is cut at the first line by a trim cutter, then the trim cutter or the table is moved at the small interval in a moving direction toward the second line, and then the edge portion of the bound material is cut at the second line by the trim cutter.

Trimmer

A guillotine cutter () of the invention is provided with a pressing block driving mechanism () positioning a pressing block () at a standby position which is spaced upwardly from a sheet bundle (), a first operating position pressing the sheet bundle by a first pressing force, and a second operating position pressing the sheet bundle by a second pressing force which is larger than the first pressing force. The pressing block is carried by a rod () through a compression spring () at the standby position, the pressing block is supported on an upper surface of the sheet bundle at the first operating position, thereby applying the first pressing force to the sheet bundle on the basis of a resultant force of a gravitational force generated by its own weight and an biasing force generated by the compression spring, and the pressing block is pushed down by an expansion portion () of the rod while the pressing block is kept being supported on the upper surface of the sheet bundle at the second operating position, thereby applying the second pressing force on the basis of a resultant force of the first pressing force and the push-down force generated by the rod.
