A radiation detecting apparatus includes a pair of substrates disposed face to face in such a manner that a plurality of grooves provided in one of the facing surfaces at a predetermined interval face a plurality of grooves provided in the other of the facing surfaces at the predetermined interval. Radiation shielding plates are inserted at both ends thereof into a facing pair of grooves to be held by both of the substrates, scintillators are mounted on a corresponding one of the radiation shielding plates, and photodetectors are fixed to either one of the facing surfaces of the substrates between adjacent grooves so that a plurality of facing pairs of photodetectors are juxtaposed.

Radiation detecting apparatus

A radiation-image photographing apparatus comprises a radiation source, a radiation detector disposed in opposition to the radiation source for detecting radiation through an object to be examined and to generate an electrical signal proportional to the amount of incident radiation, a scanning device for changing the relative, positional relationship between the radiation source and the radiation detector, an analog-to-digital converter for converting the output signal from the radiation detector to a digital quantity, a memory for storing the digital signal, an arithmetic unit, and a display unit. A plurality of measurements of a two-dimensional radiation absorption distribution of the object disposed between the radiation source and the radiation detector is obtained while the relative positional relationship between the radiation source and the radiation detector is being changed, and a linear arithmetic operation is performed on the plurality of image measurements, or a set of data passing a point within the object to be photographed, thereby displaying a cross-sectional image on a given cross-section approximately parallel to the radiation detector plane within the object to be examined.

Radiation image photographing apparatus

An automatic cyto-screening device calculates, from image signals obtained by scanning stained cells, the nuclear area of the cells and the nuclear area/cytoplasmic area ratio, and determines, from the calculated areas, which belong to a normal region, which belong to an abnormal region and an uncertain region in which normal and abnormal cells are present in the mixed state; these three regions are prescribed in advance, depending on the nuclear and cytoplasmic areas. The device also determines, according to the grey histogram of the nuclear density, whether cells which have been determined to belong to the uncertain region are normal or abnormal.

Automatic cyto-screening device

A transducer included in an ultrasonic source is a concave ultrasonic transducer made of a piezoelectric material. The concave ultrasonic transducer is shaped into such body of revolution that a section of the transducer forms a revolutionary arc surface consisting of two arcs. Owing to the shape, an ultrasonic source similar to a conventional ring type source is constructed.
