The first to third storage apparatuses each comprise an SVOL, SVOLand PVOL. Even when the write command designates any of the PVOL, SVOLand SVOL, at least one of the first to third storage apparatuses writes write target data according to the write command to the PVOL and then writes the write target data in parallel to the SVOLand SVOL. Even if a read command designates any of the PVOL, SVOLand SVOL, at least one of the first to third storage apparatuses reads read target data according to the read command from the PVOL.

Storage system having a plurality of storage apparatuses which migrate a first volume group to a second volume group

Provided is an information storage system including a first storage apparatus configured to provide a first logical volume, a second storage apparatus configured to provide a second logical volume, and a quorum accessed from the first storage apparatus and the second storage apparatus and including information regarding states of the first storage apparatus and the second storage apparatus. The second storage apparatus is configured to, after detecting communication failure with the quorum, halt use of the quorum and check communication with the first storage apparatus for failure before responding to the host for each of read and write commands sent from the host.

Information storage system

A storage system is composed of a first storage subsystem and a second storage subsystem each having one or more volumes, and a third storage subsystem capable of being accessed from both the first storage subsystem and the second storage subsystem. The storage system operates to replicate the data written from the host to a volume within the first or the second storage subsystem to a volume within the second or the first storage subsystem. The first and second storage subsystems periodically write health check information to the third storage subsystem. When the first storage subsystem receives a write request from the host but cannot replicate the write data to the second storage subsystem, it reads the health check information written to the third storage subsystem to confirm that a volume of the second storage subsystem is I/O prohibited, and resumes processing regarding the write request from the host.

In an information system including: first and second storage apparatuses executing synchronous copying of data to a counterpart storage device; a first quorum apparatus coupled to the first and the second storage apparatuses; and a second quorum apparatus coupled to the first and the second storage apparatuses, wherein the first and the second storage apparatuses are each configured to perform control to determine whether to execute the I/O request in accordance with an execution feasibility setting, and in health check processing that is repeatedly executed, the first and the second storage apparatuses are each configured to store survival information thereof in the first and the second quorum apparatuses, check whether the survival information of the counterpart storage apparatus is able to be checked from any one of the first and the second quorum apparatuses, and set the execution feasibility setting of the storage apparatus.

A storage system, method and program product, the system comprising: storage devices; and a controller configured to: provide virtual volumes to a host computer; manage logical units on the storage device and storage pools; allocate, in response to receiving a write request to a virtual volume, a storage region of the storage pools; and store data related to the write request in the storage region allocated, wherein the controller is further configured to: allocate first storage region in first storage pool to first virtual volume based on first size of the first storage region or the first virtual volume; allocate a second storage region in a second storage pool to a second virtual volume of the plurality of virtual volumes based on a second size of the second storage region or the second virtual volume.
