A connector () includes terminals (), a bus bar (), and a housing (). Electric wires () are connected to the terminals (). The bus bar () electrically connects the terminals. The housing () has terminal receiving chambers () and a bus bar receiving chamber (). The terminals () are received in the terminal receiving chambers (). The bus bar () is received in the bus bar receiving chamber (). The bus bar has contact pieces (), a coupling portion (), and support portions (). The support portions () extend from both end portions of the coupling portion. A position where the contact pieces make contact with contact point portions and a position where protrusions () provided in the support portions are locked to the bus bar receiving chamber are aligned with each other in a longitudinal direction of the housing.

When molds (), () are caused to mesh so that a crimping portion () is compressed, the crimping portion () is crimped to conductive wires () and a cover portion (). A conductor crimping portion () is completely compressed by the molds (), (). A cover crimping portion () preliminarily compresses the cover portion (). Next, temporarily compressed terminal-equipped electrical wires are disposed between different molds. When the molds are caused to mesh so that the crimping portion () is compressed, the cover crimping portion () is forcefully compressed. In other words, the cover crimping portion () is subjected to final compression. In other words, the present invention is provided with a first compression step for preliminarily compressing the cover portion () and a second compression step for forcefully compressing the covering part.

Method for manufacturing terminal-equipped electrical wires

Under compression by molds (), a wire (), a covered area (), and a crimping portion () are compressed and their cross-sectional areas decrease. Here, A1 is the cross-sectional area of the wire () after compression. That is, A1 is the sum of the cross-sectional area of the each strand after compression. Also,is the cross-sectional area of the covered area () after compression. In the present invention, the compression rate for the wire () is set between 50% and 80%. Also, the compression rate for the covered area () is set between 40% and 90%. The amount of compression by the molds () is set so that the compression rates are within these ranges. In the present invention, the compression rate is calculated by: (cross-sectional area after compression)/(cross-sectional area before compression). That is, 80% compression rate means that the cross-sectional area has decreased by 20% due to compression. That is, the relationships of 80%&#x2265;(A1/A0)&#x2265;50% and 90%&#x2265;(B1/B0)&#x2265;40% are satisfied.

Wire harness, connection method between covered conducting wire and terminal, and wire harness structure body

A method for manufacturing a terminal-attached electric wire including an electric wire including a core wire having plurality of strand wires, and a female terminal including wire barrels crimped around the core wire. The method includes a first step of applying ultrasonic vibrations to the core wire, and a second step of crimping the wire barrels in a region of the core wire to which ultrasonic vibrations have been applied. The first step includes applying ultrasonic vibrations to the core wire while leaving a compression margin for the crimping by the second step such that the resistance between the electric wire and the female terminal is stabilized until the strand wires of the terminal-attached electric wire are severed when the core wire of the terminal-attached electric wire is further compressed after the second step.

Wire with terminal and manufacturing method therefor

A female terminal fitting includes an electric connection portion having a bottom plate, side plates, and a top plate. An elastic contact piece opposed to the top plate or the bottom plate is provided inside the electric connection portion. The elastic contact piece includes a central contact which protrudes toward the top plate or the bottom plate. The top plate or the bottom plate includes a pair of contacts and a curved contact portion. The pair of contacts is provided respectively in widthwise edge portions of an inner surface of the top plate or the bottom plate. The curved contact portion is provided between the pair of contacts so as to be recessed like an arc.

In a terminal-attached electric wire (), a resin portion () which covers a conductor-exposed portion of a terminal () to which a conductor is connected is formed by molding resin in the conductor-exposed portion. In the terminal-attached electric wire (), the resin portion () has a peeling preventive portion () which prevents the resin portion () from peeing off in a release direction of a die when the die is released.

The height (F) of a protruding portion () is less than the thickness of a crimping portion () before crimping. If the height of the protruding portion () is greater than the thickness of the crimping portion, then a recess is prone to form in the inner surface of the crimping portion (). In other words, because there is more metal flowing outwards, a recess corresponding to the metal flow is prone to form on the inner surface side. If such a recess does form, adhesion with a covered area () is likely to deteriorate. This is problematic because such a gap would be a path allowing the ingress of moisture. On the other hand, if the height of the protruding portion () is less than the thickness of the crimping portion () before crimping, then when the crimping portion () is compressed during crimping, the amount of metal flowing towards the protruding portion () diminishes, making it possible to suppress the formation of a receding portion on the inner surface of the crimping portion ().

A covered conductive wire is configured by covering a conductive wire with an insulating cover portion. The conductive wire is formed of an aluminum-based material, for example. A crimping portion includes a cover crimping portion for crimping the cover portion of the covered conductive wire, and a conductor crimping portion for crimping a portion of the conductive wire that is exposed when the cover portion is removed at the tip portion of the covered conductive wire. It is possible to use polyvinyl chloride and/or a non-halogen member, for example, for the cover portion of the covered conductive wire, and a plasticizer, filler, stabilizer, or the like is compounded as needed. A material that shrinks by a factor of 7% or less after being allowed to stand for 120 hours at a high temperature of 120&#xb0; C. is used for this cover portion.

A crimp-connection structural body, a wire harness, a method of manufacturing a crimp-connection structural body, and a manufacturing device are provided. The crimp-connection structural body includes an insulated wire formed by covering a conductor by an insulating cover, and a crimp terminal having a crimp section allowing connection by crimp of a conductor exposed portion formed by exposing the conductor. The crimp section is formed of a closed-barrel-type crimp section, and a cross-sectional shape of the crimp section in a radial direction is formed into an approximately recessed cross-sectional shape having a crimp recessed portion formed by indenting by inclined portions inclined from positions spaced-apart from each other by a predetermined distance. The predetermined distance is set to 90% or less of an entire width of the crimp section. An opposedly facing angle made by the inclined portions is set to a value which ranges from 10&#xb0; to 120&#xb0; inclusive.

Provided is an electric wire with a terminal (), in which a resin portion () molded by a die covers a conductor exposure portion of a terminal () to which a conductor is connected. At least groove portion () is provided at a part of the terminal () covered with the resin portion () so that the groove portion () prevents the resin portion () from separating from the terminal () in a removing direction of the die after the resin portion () is molded by the die.

A connector includes a connector housing including a locking mechanism which locks a mating housing and formed to be fitted to the mating housing, and a connector terminal held by the connector housing to come into contact with a mating terminal held by the mating housing. A connection structure has an electric wire and a terminal. The terminal includes a mating terminal connection portion to be connected to a mating terminal and a crimping portion which crimps to a conductor of an electric wire. The electric wire is connected to the terminal by the crimping portion. The connection structure includes an intermediate portion that is provided between the mating terminal connection portion and the crimping portion and has a housing portion which houses an end portion of the conductor, an intermediate portion sealing member that is fitted in the housing portion, and a hollow covering member that extends in an extending direction of the electric wire and covers a portion from the intermediate portion to an insulating covering region.
