A clad is produced by polymerizing methyl methacrylate and (meth)acrylic acid ester having alicyclic hydrocarbon group. A core is produced by an interfacial-gel-polymerization method. A first covering layer having a thickness being less than 500 &#x3bc;m is formed on an outer surface of the clad to produce a single-fiber optical cable. A plurality of the single-fiber optical cables are bundled. A gap between the single-fiber optical cables is infused with a filler. The bundled single-fiber optical cables are covered with a second covering layer to produce a multi-fiber optical cable. Since the covering layer is thin, the multi-fiber optical cable has excellent flexibility and reduced bending loss.

A method of manufacturing a photographic printing paper support wherein a composition consisting essentially of polyethylene terephthalate is hot extruded so as to cover at least one surface of the raw paper, this method being characterized in that after a hot extruded film of the aforesaid composition is discharged onto the raw paper on the nip roll, it is pressed in contact with the chilled roll.

A support for a photographic printing paper comprising a substrate and a waterproof resin coating layers provided on the both sides of the substrate, wherein at least the waterproof resin-coating provided on the side of the substrate on which an emulsion for forming an image is coated comprises i) a lowermost waterproof resin coating layer contacting the substrate and ii) at least one upper coating layer containing a waterproof resin capable of melt-extruded at a temperature of from 170.degree. to 290.degree. Disclosed is a photographic printing paper comprising a raw paper which has on the emulsion side a resin coating constituted of polyethylene terephthalate or a resin blend of polyethylene terephthalate and another resin and titanium oxide grains dispersed therein and on the back side a resin coating constituted of the same polyethylene terephthalate or resin blend as used in the resin coating on the emulsion side and inorganic grains having an average grain size of from 1.5 to 12 .mu.m.

A photographic printing paper support wherein one side of the raw paper is covered by a composition containing titanium oxide dispersed in polyethylene terephthalate resin or a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate and another resin, and the other side is covered by a composition containing calcium carbonate dispersed in polyethylene terephthalate resin or a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate with another resin, which can provide an excellent photographic paper having good water resistance, whightness and gloss is disclosed.

The information recording medium comprises a substrate provided with a prepit area and a pregroove area, a dye layer on the substrate and a reflecting layer on the dye layer, wherein the dye layer is a continuous layer formed on both the prepit area and the pregroove area, and the prepit area has a high modulation degree not less than 50%. Its embodiments are as follows: A medium in which a difference between an optical thickness of the dye layer on the bottom portion of a pregroove or a prepit and that of the dye layer on the land portion or a portion between prepits is not more than .lambda./8; one in which a prepit has a half width of 0.2 to 1.4 .mu.m and a depth of 150 to 400 nm, the pregroove has a half width of 0.2 to 1.4 .mu.m and a depth of 70 to 200 nm, the depth of the prepit is larger than the depth of the pregroove by not less than .lambda./8; and one in which wherein a relationship between a depth of a prepit and a thickness of said dye layer on the prepit and that between a depth of a pregroove and a thickness of a dye layer on the pregroove satisfies the specific conditions; and one in which least one of the prepit area and the pregroove area may be present in two or more places are disclosed.

Information recording medium having high modulation degree

An improved magnetic recording medium comprises a nonmagnetic support and a magnetic recording layer which comprises a ferromagnetic powder, a lubricant and an abrasive dispersed in a binder comprising a specific polyurethane resin and a specific vinyl chloride copolymer at a ratio (polyurethane resin:vinyl chloride copolymer) in the range of 15:85 to 90:10. The polyurethane resin has a polar group such as --COOM, --SO.sub.3 M, --OSO.sub.3 M and --PO(OM').sub.2, wherein M is hydrogen or an alkali metal atom, and M' is hydrogen, an alkali metal atom or a lower hydrocarbon group, one polar group being contained per 53,000 to 100,000 of the number-average molecular weight of the resin, and the vinyl chloride copolymer has one of the above-mentioned polar group, one polar group unit being contained per 10,000 to 100,000 of the number-average molecular weight of the copolymer. The recording layer contains a fatty acid ester lubricant having a low melting point, a carbon black having an average particle size of 90-150 .mu.m, and/or a .alpha.-alumina having a small average particle size.

Magnetic recording medium

A magnetic tape cassette having a guide pole which is in sliding contact with the magnetic surface of the tape produced in such a manner as to improve the running characteristics of the tape while being capable of being manufactured at a low cost. A cylindrical stainless steel base member is subjected to a barreling treatment so as to secure fine particles of an inorganic material having a Moh's hardness of greater than 9 to the slide surface of the guide post. Moreover, the surface of the guide pole can be finished by a surface rolling to reduce the number of scratch-like grooves in the slide surface having a depth of more than 0.2 .mu.m and a width of less than 40 .mu.m to less than 11 per millimeter in the sliding direction of the tape.

An abrasive tape comprises a flexible non-magnetic substrate, and an abrasive coating film applied onto the flexible non-magnetic substrate and formed by kneading abrasive grains, a binder and an additive. The binder contains a resin which has, at a side chain, at least one polar group selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## where M represents a hydrogen atom, lithium, sodium, or potassium, M.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, lithium, sodium, potassium, or an alkyl group, and M.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, lithium, sodium, potassium, or an alkyl group.
