A molded article containing cerium oxide particles and a binder resin, wherein cerium oxide particles which has an average particle diameter of 1 to 15 &#x3bc;m and in each of which a crystallite size is 40 to 200 &#x212b; are used.

Proposed is a carrier for exhaust gas purification catalyst composed of particles which contain a silicate or phosphate containing one kind or two or more kinds among the elements belonging to Group 1 and Group 2 in the periodic table.

Provided is an exhaust-gas-purification catalyst carrier that contains a ceria-zirconia complex oxide having a pyrochlore phase and a novel exhaust-gas-purification catalyst carrier that exhibit excellent OSC performance at any temperature region of a low temperature (around 400&#xb0; C.) and a high temperature (around 800&#xb0; C.). Proposed is the exhaust-gas-purification catalyst carrier containing a ceria-zirconia complex oxide which has a pyrochlore phase and is 7.0 m/g or more in specific surface area and in the range of 100 &#x212b; to 700 &#x212b; in crystallite size.

Provided is a particulate combustion catalyst including a carrier formed of monoclinic zirconium oxide particles, and metallic Ag or Ag oxide, which serves as a catalyst component and is supported on the carrier, wherein the amount of the catalyst component is 0.5 to 10 mass %, as reduced to metallic Ag, on the basis of the mass of the carrier, and preferably, the catalyst has a BET specific surface area of 8 to 21 m/g. Also provided are a particulate filter coated with the particulate combustion catalyst; and an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus including a particulate filter coated with the particulate combustion catalyst.

A catalyst for exhaust gas purification having superior exhaust gas purification performance is provided. Disclosed is a catalyst containing, as a catalyst support, a composite phosphate containing yttrium and phosphorus and having a composition ratio of yttrium to phosphorus (Y/P) of greater than 1 as a molar ratio.
