Provided is an optical film which can promise to be thinner and makes it possible to enhance adhesion between a first functional layer and a second functional layer; and a polarizing plate and an image display device both of which include such an optical film. One aspect of the present invention is to provide an optical filmincluding a light-transmitting base material, a first functional layer, and a second functional layerin this order, and further including a mixed layer; wherein at least one of the first functional layerand the second functional layercontains an ultraviolet absorber; wherein the mixed layeris provided between the first functional layerand the second functional layer, is adjacent to the first functional layerand the second functional layer, and contains a component of the first functional layerand a component of the second functional layer; wherein the total film thickness of the first functional layer, the second functional layer, and the mixed layeris 1 μm or more and 10 μm or less; and wherein the ratio of the film thickness of the mixed layerto the total film thickness of the first functional layer, the second functional layer, and the mixed layeris 0.6% or more and 40% or less.

Provided is an optical layered body having a structure including: a substrate; and one or two or more functional layers on at least one surface of the substrate, the optical layered body having a spectral transmittance at a wavelength of 380 nm of lower than 1%, a spectral transmittance at a wavelength of 410 nm of lower than 10%, and a spectral transmittance at a wavelength of 440 nm of 70% or higher.

The present invention relates to an optical layered body including: a substrate film; a hard coat layer containing silica fine particles on at least one surface of the substrate film; and a dry film layer on a surface of the hard coat layer opposite to the substrate film side surface of the hard coat layer, wherein the silica fine particles are exposed on the dry film layer side surface of the hard coat layer; the dry film layer is directly formed on the surface of the hard coat layer on which the silica fine particles are exposed; the hard coat layer before the formation of the dry film layer has projections and depressions on the surface on which the dry film layer is to be formed; the hard coat layer has an average silica fine particle abundance in ten 0.2 &#x3bc;m&#xd7;0.2 &#x3bc;m regions of 30 to 80% and a standard deviation of silica fine particle abundances in the 10 regions of 1 to 7, where the 10 regions are randomly selected from a cross section of the hard coat layer in the thickness direction within the range from the dry film layer side interface to 10% of the thickness in the thickness direction; and the hard coat layer has a silicon atom abundance A of 2 to 10% on the surface opposite to the substrate film side surface as determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
