The present invention provides a foam body suitable for producing a cultured meat having a good texture. The foam body of the present invention includes alginic acid and/or an alginate. The foam body has an elastic modulus M, as determined by a test, of 8&#xd7;10Pa or less. In the test, the foam body is immersed in 22&#xb1;3&#xb0; C. water for 4 hours to prepare a specimen having a post-immersion thickness of 5&#xb1;1 mm. Stress and strain caused in the specimen are measured by applying a load to the specimen for 5 seconds to compress the specimen in a thickness direction at 0.5 mm/sec. A stress caused in the specimen when the specimen is compressed by 10% of an initial thickness is determined, and a value obtained by dividing the stress by a corresponding strain is determined as the elastic modulus M.

A method for producing a spiral wound separation membrane element includes preparing a composite semipermeable membrane having a skin layer on the surface of a porous support. The method further includes forming on the skin layer a protective layer containing 35 mg/mor more of an anionic polyvinyl alcohol to prepare a protective layer-equipped composite semipermeable membrane, preparing an unwashed spiral wound separation membrane element from the protective layer-equipped composite semipermeable membrane, and passing wash water through the unwashed spiral wound separation membrane element to remove the protective layer on the skin layer.

The retardation film of the present invention contains a thermoplastic polymer having at least a side chain component (A) oriented in a direction substantially orthogonal to a slow axis, and the absorption edge wavelength (&#x3bb;) of the side chain component (A) is 330 nm or more, and an in-plane retardation value (Re[450]) at a wavelength of 450 nm is smaller than that (Re[650]) at a wavelength of 650 nm. Therefore, the electric power that is output from the aforesaid electric power outputting section can be used in an electric component disposed outside or can be stored into a capacitor section disposed outside.

An optical film containing a polymer having at least a repeating unit represented by following general formula (I): The optical film is excellent in heat resistance, transparency and processability because it contains a polymer having a naphthyl group in a molecular structure. In addition, when a retardation film is produced by drawing the optical film, a composition ratio of the polymer can be adjusted in a specific range so that the retardation film exhibits inverse wavelength dispersion properties such that higher retardation value is offered in measuring by light with longer wavelength. The retardation film having such properties is extremely useful for improving display properties of a liquid crystal display device. The optical film is also used in the production of a polarizing plate.

The present invention provides a medical adhesive composition containing a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of a monomer mixture containing an acrylic acid alkyl ester having C4-C12 alkyl group, a (meth)acrylic acid, and a methacrylic acid alkyl ester having C1-C4 alkyl group, which mixture is free of a multifunctional monomer having two or more unsaturated double bonds in a molecule, wherein the copolymer has a gel-sol ratio of 35:65 to 55:45 and a weight average molecular weight of the sol portion of 300,000 to 500,000, or a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of the above-mentioned monomer mixture and having a gel fraction of 35 to 55% and a swelling ratio of a gel portion of 50 to 90 times.
