An electronic keyboard musical instrument includes a keyboard that receives a musical performance operation. The electronic keyboard musical instrument further includes a plurality of operation units that receive an operation except for the musical performance operation with respect to the electronic keyboard musical instrument, and a disabler that disables operational input in at least one operation unit among the plurality of operation units when a connection with a tablet for inputting an operation with respect to the electronic keyboard musical instrument is established.

Performance information of a music performance executed by a user is received, and temporarily stored into a buffer for each given time period. The performance information is recorded into a recording section in response to a recording instruction by the user. Second performance information having a definite time period is reproduced repeatedly, and the user ad-libs a desired musical performance while listening to the repeatedly reproduced tones of the second performance information. The given time period is set to coincide with the definite time period of the second performance information. Temporarily-stored performance information for the given time period is recorded in one of a plurality of recording tracks. In response to a plurality of user's recording instructions, a plurality of different segments of performance information for the given time period are recorded into respective ones of the recording tracks, and these different segments are reproduced repeatedly in synchronized fashion.

Performance information processing device and method

An electronic musical instrument is capable of generating tones in correspondence with individual ones of a plurality of sound generation parts and allocating desired sound colors and pitch ranges to the individual sound generation parts. A display area for displaying information related to the plurality of sound generation parts is presented on a display device. The individual sound generation parts are set either in a sound generating state or in a non-sound-generating state. The display area is divided in order to set sub display areas corresponding to one or more of the sound generation parts having been set in the sound generating state. The information related to the sound generation parts, having been set in the sound generating state, is displayed in the corresponding sub display areas.

Processing device and method for displaying a state of tone generation apparatus

When a list of file names is to be displayed on a display device, a comparison is made between a necessary display width of each of the file names and a width of a display area of the display device. For each of the file names having a necessary display width greater than the width of the display area, it is checked whether the file name contains a particular character string portion of a predetermined type, and, if so, the file name is displayed in the list in a partly-omitted display style where a leading end portion, particular character string portion and extension of the file name are left in the list with the other part of the character string omitted. The particular character string portion can function as an important element for identifying the data item in question.

Display control apparatus

An external storage device stores automatic music playing data files, each file including data of a progression of musical notes constituting a performance of a music piece, and registration data files, each file including data of a set of parameters to determine the conditions for the performance of the music piece. While an automatic music playing data file of a piece of music and registration data files are loaded into a working memory and are being processed to play the current piece of music automatically, the next automatic music playing data file of the next piece of music to be played and the registration data files to be used next are prefetched from the external storage device into an internal storage device temporarily to be prepared for being transferred to the working memory for the successive automatic music playing after the automatic playing of the current music piece is over. Thus, dead time between the adjacent pieces of automatically played music and delay in effectuating the registrations will be avoided.
