A control device includes an inverter, a first drive unit, a first booster, a second drive unit, and a second booster. The inverter has a plurality of high potential switching elements and a plurality of low potential switching elements, and supplies electric power from a power supply to the motor. The first drive unit controls an operation of the high potential switching elements. The first booster is connected to the first drive unit, boosts the voltage of the power supply, and outputs the boosted voltage to the first drive unit. The second drive unit controls an operation of the low potential switching elements. The second booster is connected to the second drive unit, boosts the voltage of the power supply, and outputs the other boosted voltage to the second drive unit.

Control device and electric power steering device using same

An abnormality monitoring device includes a control unit and a monitoring unit. The control unit includes a self-diagnosis circuit configured to perform a self-diagnosis processing during which other processing is inhibited. The monitoring unit includes an abnormality monitoring circuit and a reset circuit. The abnormality monitoring circuit is configured to perform an abnormality monitoring of the control unit. The reset circuit is configured to reset the control unit when the abnormality monitoring circuit decides an abnormality of the control unit. The abnormality monitoring circuit is configured to determine whether the self-diagnosis processing is finished, disable the abnormality monitoring of the control unit during the self-diagnosis processing, and start the abnormality monitoring of the control unit when the self-diagnosis processing is determined to be finished. Accordingly, the abnormality of the control unit is accurately monitored.

Abnormality monitoring device and electric power steering device using same

A control device controls an operation of an electric motor, which is rotated by an electric power supplied from a battery. The control device includes an inverter, a controller and a booster. The inverter includes switching elements. The inverter converts an electric power supplied from the battery and supplies the converted electric power to the motor. The controller is operated by the electric power, which is supplied from the battery, to control the operation of the inverter. The booster boosts the voltage, which is inputted from the battery, and the booster outputs the boosted voltage to the controller. In a case where the voltage of the electric power supplied from the battery to the controller is dropped, the electric power, which has the voltage boosted by the booster, can be inputted to the controller.

Control device and electric power steering apparatus

An electronic device has a substrate, a heat sink, and a heat conductive material. The substrate has a first surface on which an electronic part is arranged. The heat sink has (i) a second surface facing the first surface and distanced from the electronic part and (ii) an annular groove extending annularly and defining an area that is circled by the annular groove on the second surface and faces the electronic part. The heat conductive material is arranged between the first surface and the second surface to be in contact with the electronic part and the annular groove. The heat conductive material guides heat generated by the electronic part to the heat sink.

Electronic device and actuator using the same

An electronic device includes a circuit board, a heat sink and thermal gel. The circuit board has an electronic component, which is mounted to a first principal surface of the circuit board. The heat sink has an opposing surface, which is opposed to the first principal surface of the circuit board. The thermal gel is filled between the circuit board and the heat sink to cover the electronic component. The circuit board has through-holes. At least a portion of each through-hole is formed in a bonding range, to which the thermal gel is bonded. The through-holes enable visual recognition of the thermal gel through the through-holes.

Electronic device, drive apparatus having the electronic device and manufacturing method of the electronic device

A primary strut, which extends integrally from a heat sink main body, supports a circuit board at a location between a connector terminal and one of a switching device or a drive wiring. A secondary strut, which extends integrally from the heat sink main body, supports the circuit board at a location that is on an opposite side of the switching device and the drive wiring, which is opposite from the connector terminal. A temperature sensor is installed to the circuit board at a location, which is spaced from the primary strut, the switching device and the drive wiring, and at which the temperature sensor senses a temperature of the secondary strut. A control device limits an electric current supplied to the switching device upon estimating a temperature of the switching device while using the temperature, which is sensed with the temperature sensor, as a reference temperature.

Electronic apparatus

An ECU includes a substrate and a chassis. Electronic components are mounted on a first primary surface of the substrate. The chassis includes a protruding portion that protrudes toward a position different from where the electronic components are. A height of the protruding portion is greater than a height of the electronic components, and shorter than a gap between the substrate and the heat sink. When warping occurs in the substrate and the first primary surface approaches an opposing surface of the heat sink, the protruding portion contacts the first primary surface. Accordingly, the electronic components are prevented from contacting the heat sink. Further, other electronic components may be mounted on an entire area of a second primary surface of the substrate.

Electronic device

A heat radiation structure for an electric device includes: at least one multi-layer substrate including a plurality of base parts made of insulation material and a conductor pattern, which are stacked in a multi-layer structure so that the conductor pattern is electrically coupled with an interlayer connection portion in the base parts; the electric device having at least one of a first electric element built in the at least one multi-layer substrate and a second electric element, which is not built in the multi-layer substrate; and a low heat resistance element opposed to the electric device. The low heat resistance element has a heat resistance lower than the insulation material.

Heat radiation structure of electric device and method for manufacturing the same

An electronic control unit is equipped with a semiconductor module having a semiconductor chip electrically connected to the first circuit pattern and the second circuit pattern. A resin body is wrapped around the semiconductor chip. A first metal plate has a side connected to the semiconductor chip and an other side connected to the first circuit pattern. A radiator projects toward and is connected to the first circuit pattern by a first heat conductor. As a result, heat generated by the semiconductor chip is transmitted to the radiator through the first metal plate, the first circuit pattern, and the first heat conductor during operation of the semiconductor module.

Electronic control unit and rotating electric machine

An in-vehicle power supply system includes a DC power source, a steering power converter, a steering drive control unit, a plurality of voltage-reducing devices, and a voltage-reducing control unit. The steering power converter converts electric power supplied from the DC power source, and provides the electric power converted to a steering assist motor. The steering drive control unit is supplied with electric power from the DC power source, and controls the steering power converter. The voltage-reducing devices are coupled in parallel to each other between the DC power source and the steering power converter. Each of the voltage-reducing devices reduces a power source voltage of the DC power source and generates a reduced voltage when being operated. The voltage-reducing control unit determines operation state or non-operation state of each of the voltage-reducing devices such that at least one of the voltage-reducing devices is in operation at a time.
