Integral skin molded article and method of preparing integral skin molded article and laminate having skin

A cover body of a vehicle air bag apparatus, including a covering portion which is formed integrally with an interior panel body and which has a door portion defined by a tear seam formed in a back of the interior panel body, and, a backing portion joined to a back of the covering portion. The covering portion is made of polyolefin resin having a flexual elastic modulus of from 1500 to 3500 MPa, a tensile strength of from 17 to 40 MPa, an Izod impact strength of from 3.0 to 15.0 kJ/m2, and an elongation of 400% or less. The backing portion is made of thermoplastic olefin which is softer and has a greater elongation. The backing portion includes a reinforcing portion at a back of the door portion, a surrounding base at the back of the covering portion, and a hinge portion joining the reinforcing portion and the surrounding base.

Cover body for air bag apparatus

A vehicle interior panel, which functions as an airbag cover for covering an airbag expanding direction of an airbag apparatus, is comprised of a base member layer having a tearing portion which defines a door portion opened by the expanding of an airbag of the airbag apparatus, a cushion layer laminated on the base member layer, and a skin member laminated on the cushion layer. The skin member having a weak portion functioning as a tearing portion of the skin member. The weak portion being formed outside of a position just above the tearing portion of the base member layer.

Vehicle interior panel

An interior panel for covering an air bag module of a vehicle, includes a base layer of hard resin, formed with a breakaway portion to form a deployment door for the air bag module; and a covering layer overlying the base layer, and including a surface layer of soft resin forming an interior surface. The covering layer includes a break guide portion formed between the base layer and the surface layer.
