To provide a hydrophilizing surface treatment liquid suppressing the deterioration over time of the effect of a surface treatment even when a surface-treated article is exposed to a variety of chemicals and a hydrophilizing treatment method in which the hydrophilizing surface treatment liquid is used. In a hydrophilizing surface treatment liquid including a polymerizable compound having an ethylenic unsaturated double bond (A), a polymerization initiator (B) and a solvent (S), a hydrophilic polymerizable compound (A1), an adhesive polymerizable compound (A2), an acidic polymerizable compound (A3a) and/or a basic polymerizable compound (A3b) are used as the polymerizable compound (A), and an aqueous solution including the polymerizable compound (A) at a concentration of 10% by mass has a pH at 23° C. of 6.5 or more and 7.5 or less.

To provide a polymerizable composition capable of forming a thick hydrophilic resin coating having high hardness and excellent durability on the surface of an object to be treated, which is a surface treatment object, and a hydrophilizing treatment method in which the polymerizable composition is used. Provided are a curable composition that provides a cured film excellent in antifogging properties, an antifogging coating agent containing the composition, and a cured film formed from a cured product of the composition. A curable composition according to an embodiment of the invention contains a (meth)acrylate compound (A), and a surfactant (B), wherein the component (A) contains a (meth)acrylate compound (A1) having an HLB value of 15.2 or more, and the content of the component (B) with respect to 100 parts by mass of the component (A) is 0.1 parts by mass or more and 20 parts by mass or less.

The present invention provides: a gas separation method which is capable of desirably separating a slight amount of a component from a mixed gas under mild conditions such that the pressure difference between both sides of a gas separation membrane is 1 atmosphere or less; and a gas separation membrane which is suitable for use in this gas separation method. According to the present invention, in a gas separation method wherein a specific gas (A) in a mixed gas, which contains the specific gas (A) at a concentration of 1,000 ppm by mass or less, is selectively permeated with use of a gas separation membrane, an extremely thin gas separation membrane that has a film thickness of 1 &#x3bc;m or less is used, so that the gas (A) is desirably separated under mild conditions such that the pressure difference between both sides of the gas separation membrane is 1 atmosphere or less.

An object is to provide a surface treatment liquid which can firmly bond, while coating the surface of a treatment target with an extremely thin film, a coating whose hydrophilicity is unlikely to be lowered even when the coating is brought into contact with fats and the like to the surface of the treatment target and a surface treatment method using the surface treatment liquid described above. In a surface treatment liquid containing a resin (A) and a solvent (S), as the resin (A), a resin is used which includes a constituent unit (a1) that includes an organic group including a quaternary ammonium cation group and having a sulfonic acid anion group at a terminal and that is derived from an N-substituted (meth) acrylamide, and includes a reactive silyl group in at least one of molecular chain terminals, the concentration of the resin (A) in the surface treatment liquid is less than 2 mass % and the pH of the surface treatment liquid is 4 or less.

An object is to provide a hydrophilic treatment method which can firmly bond, while coating the surface of a treatment target with an extremely thin film, the coating to the surface of the treatment target and a surface treatment liquid which can be suitably used in the hydrophilic treatment method. The present invention provides a surface treatment method. The surface treatment liquid includes a resin, a solvent and a strong acid having a pKa of 1 or less. The resin includes a functional group I that is at least one of a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, and a carboxyl group, and a functional group II that is a hydrophilic group or a hydrophobic group other than the functional group I.
