A multilayer coil component includes: an element body formed by stacking a magnetic body layer containing a plurality of metal magnetic particles of a soft magnetic material; a first coil disposed in the element body and configured to include a plurality of first coil conductors; a second coil disposed in the element body and configured to include a plurality of second coil conductors; a first external electrode to which one end portion of each of the first coil and the second coil is connected; and a second external electrode to which the other end portion of each of the first coil and the second coil is connected.

Multilayer coil component

A multilayer coil component includes an element body having a multilayer structure including a first element body portion formed of a ferrite element body material, and a second element body portion laminated on the first element body portion and formed of a ferrite element body material having a composition different from the ferrite element body material forming the first element body portion, a multilayer coil having an axis parallel to a lamination direction of the element body, and a stress alleviation portion provided in an inner region of the multilayer coil when viewed from the lamination direction. In the multilayer coil component, the stress alleviation portion is provided in the inner region of the multilayer coil in which a stress tends to be concentrated to alleviate the stress in the inner region of the multilayer coil, and thereby occurrence of cracking in the element body can be suppressed.

In a multilayer coil component, first and second conductor patterns respectively have parallel parts that overlap in a lamination direction and non-parallel parts that do not overlap. The parallel parts of the first and second conductor patterns of one set are interconnected by a first through hole. The non-parallel parts of the first and second conductor patterns of sets adjacent to each other in the lamination direction are interconnected by a second through hole.

In a multilayer coil component, a ferrite element body includes a first element body portion and a second element body portion adjacent to each other in an axial direction of the multilayer coil, in which a dielectric constant of the second element body portion is lower than a dielectric constant of the first element body portion, and a magnetic permeability of the second element body portion is higher than a magnetic permeability of the first element body portion. The inventors newly found that the first element body portion and the second element body portion contribute to coil characteristics when a coil winding portion is provided to extend over the first element body portion and the second element body portion. In the multilayer coil component, desired coil characteristics can be obtained by adjusting proportions of the first element body portion and the second element body portion in the ferrite element body.

The inventors have newly found that, even when a composition of a first element body portion and a composition of a second element body portion are different from each other, a high bonding strength at an interface between the first element body portion and the second element body portion can be obtained when both the first element body portion and the second element body portion contain ZnSiOas a constituent component. That is, when the first element body portion and the second element body portion contain ZnSiO, a bonding strength at the interface is improved compared to a case in which the first element body portion and the second element body portion do not contain ZnSiO.
