A plastic blind rivet includes a sleeve with a plurality of legs formed by a plurality of slits of constant width. A body lock is formed on the inside of the rivet sleeve, and a mandrel lock is formed in the shank of the mandrel. When the rivet is set, the body lock and mandrel lock are engaged so as to maintain the legs in an expanded condition. A stopper is formed in the mandrel shank and abutments formed in the sleeve body. During rivet setting, the stopper and abutments engage to limit further deformation of the sleeve legs.

Plastic blind rivet

When a retainer unit is fastened to a body, the rotation of a pin member around its longitudinal axis pushes out and widens the body mounting leg portion of the retainer unit, and the retainer unit is drawn into the body. As a result, the elastic flange of the leg is bent, the insertion hole in the body is sealed by the elastic flange of the leg, and infiltration of water from the outside is prevented. By drawing the retainer unit into the body, the pin member is also drawn into the body a slight distance (dimension &#x3b1;). As a result, the elastic flange of the pin member is bent, the pin insertion hole is sealed by the elastic flange of the pin member, and infiltration of water from the outside is prevented.

Bumper retainer

Hole-sealing cover wherewith, while securing space for a moving part such as the end of a suspension arm, the size of a hole in a member being attached to can be made small. The hole-sealing cover is shaped so that it can be inserted into a hole in a bracket, includes a vessel-shaped main cover body which has a space for an end to move in formed inside, and a flange, formed at the peripheral edges of the main cover body, for preventing excessive insertion, in which main cover body, at the top part thereof forming a vessel-shaped bottom surface, a hinge is formed which extends, crossing the top part linearly, which hinge exhibits elasticity wherewith the width in a direction crossing the hinge can be reduced by a pressing force and wherewith the width is restored to the original width when the pressing force is released.

Hole-sealing cover

A trim clip includes a tether, a main clip body, and a pin. In the assembled condition, a body securing part and a trim securing part of the main clip body are directly connected. The trim securing part has a leg formed as a hollow tubular member. Flexible first latching pawls are formed in the leg and protrude radially outward from the leg. When the pin is inserted into the leg of the body securing part, then second latching pawls on the inside of the leg engage a latching shoulder on the pin, and pulling up on the pin is limited and inward movement of the first latching pawls is prevented, thus securing of the body securing part to a body panel is strengthened.

Trim clip for trim for curtain side air bag

A clip has elastic locking claws at a fixing section to be inserted in a hole of a member. The fixation section () of the clip () is a hollow box-shaped block and has a rectangular or oval shape with two opposite long sides (L, L) and two opposite short sides (S, S). The locking claws () form a part of the associated long side. One of the locking claws () is provided in a diagonal direction relative to the other in the lateral cross section of the fixing section. The locking claws are connected to each other in a space () at the center of the fixing section by an elastic claw-connecting section (). The claw-connecting section () applies to the locking claws elasticity that causes the locking claws to project outward. Thus, the elastic locking claws have increased locking force.

Clip

A bumper attachment device is provided for attaching a bumper to a vehicle body disposed between the body and the bumper. A bumper support which can support the bumper and an attachment insert that can be rotatably attached to a securing part secured to the body are provided. The attachment insert has an insertion part inserted into and through a through hole in the bumper support, the insertion part is inserted into and through the through hole, and the insertion part is turned in the through hole while supporting the bumper support; in this way, a part of the attachment insert is caused to abut a part of the bumper support, and through that abutment, the position of the bumper support relative to the body is adjusted.

Bumper attachment device

A pin having a head and a plurality of legs extending from that head, and a bushing having a flange and a shank extending from that flange, are comprised. In the flange, holes for accepting a plurality of legs are provided in a plurality corresponding to the number of legs, and in the shank, corresponding spaces for accepting each of the legs which have passed through the holes are provided in a plurality corresponding to the number of legs. The cross-section of the shank is polygonal, spaces are disposed on the surfaces of the shank capable of forming that polygon, and elastic latching pieces extending outward in lateral directions are provided at positions adjacent to the flange in a plurality corresponding to the spaces. By inserting the legs into the spaces, the elastic latching pieces are prevented from being displaced in directions whereby they would approach the spaces.

Anchor

An attachment assembly for an aerodynamic cover includes a substantially flattened aerodynamic cover adapted to be located on a body panel with a predetermined height (H) form the body panel; a first clip; and a second clip. The first clip comprises a flange and a shank adapted to engage with a stud on the body panel. The second clip includes a flange and a tubular body adapted to receive the shank therein and connect the shank therewith. The first and second clips are connected to each other in a manner that the aerodynamic cover is sandwiched and held between the flange. Thus, the aerodynamic cover is located on the body panel with the predetermined height (H) form the body panel.

Attachment assembly for aerodynamic performance improvement cover

Two-clip tubular fasteners are used to clamp a sheet-like member between flanges of the clips. An apparatus and method for attaching an undercover to the underside of a vehicle floor panel having a plurality of studs comprises a plurality of the tubular fasteners that are inserted into respective mounting holes of the undercover and that are engaged with the studs. At least some of the mounting holes provide diametral clearance with respect to corresponding tubular fasteners. The flanges of those fasteners exert a predetermined clamping force on the undercover while permitting planar movement of the undercover. One of the flanges has a configuration that engages a cooperable configuration on the undercover to prevent undesired turning of a first clip relative to a second clip.

Fasteners for clamping sheet-form members, and apparatus and method using such fasteners to attach undercover onto underside of vehicle floor panel

A clip comprises a pin, and a hollow bush adapted to receive the pin therein. The bush includes a flange and a bush body having an opening which is formed by partially cutting off a peripheral wall thereof and adapted to receive therein a pin shank in a direction orthogonal to an axial direction of the bush body. The bush body and the bush flange are adapted to be expanded in a radially outward direction of the bush body about a position opposed to the opening, in a hinged manner. The pin has a shank that includes a protruding portion which has a narrow region formed near a distal end of the pin shank, causing no expansion in an outer diameter of the bush body in the radially outward direction when the pin is in a non-fastened position, and a wide region adjacent to the bush flange, causing an expansion in the outer diameter of the bush body when the pin is in a fastened position.

An apparatus for attaching a sheet-form member for protecting vehicle occupants comprises a clip that is secured in an attachment hole in a body panel. The clip has a flange that covers edge portions of the attachment hole and has a protection member attaching part that receives and retains an engagement part of the protection member, which may be a soft elastic sheet.

A holding fastener comprising a shank adapted to be inserted into a mounting hole of an attachment member. The holding fastener having a first holding portion disposed at one end of the shank and adapted to extend radially and outward from the mounting hole of the attachment member to engage and hold one surface of the attachment member, and a second holding portion disposed at the other end of the shank and adapted to engage and hold the other surface of the attachment member. The second holding portion includes a holding piece connected to the shank through a hinge to allow the holding piece to be pivoted or rotated between an insertion position extending along the axis of the shank and a holding position extending orthogonal to the axis of the shank. An insertion tube is provided at the one end of the shank. The insertion tube is adapted to be inserted axially into a hollow portion of the shank from the side of the first holding portion to the side of the second holding portion. The holding piece and the insertion tube are cooperatively formed so that the end of the insertion tube inserted into the hollow portion of the shank allows the holding piece to be rotated from the insertion position to the holding position to be locked in the holding position.

Holding fastener

A bolt fastener (1) is attachable to a bolt (23) by pressing the base (3) onto the bolt to receive the bolt in a receiving hole (2) of the base (3), while the fastener (1) has an increased pulling resistance force (pulling load) against a pulling force of the fastener from the bolt. An inner wall (9) of the bolt receiving hole (2) is provided with a pair of opposed engagement means (10) member into engagement with a threaded portion of the bolt as the received in the bolt receiving hole (2). Each of the engagement means (10) comprises a plurality of resilient arms (15,17) extending from the inner wall (9) of the bolt receiving hole (21) toward the center of the hole and a plate-like engagement portion (18) supported by the resilient arms to extend longitudinally with respect to the bolt receiving hole. Each of the opposed surfaces of the engagement portions (18) of the paired engagement means (10) is formed with a plurality of multi-stepped engagement pawls (19) arranged longitudinally with respect to the bolt receiving hole (2) for engagement with threaded portion of the bolt (23).
