A catalyst device includes a catalyst, a heating element, and a case. A direction in which exhaust gas flows through an exhaust passage is defined as a gas discharging direction. The case includes an end portion on an upstream side in the gas discharging direction. The heating element includes an end on an upstream side in the gas discharging direction. The end portion of the case is an insulating portion that insulates electricity and protrudes toward an upstream side of the end of the heating element in the gas discharging direction. The catalyst device further includes an outer tube that is separated from the end portion of the case in a radial direction to cover the end portion. The outer tube is formed by a turbine housing that houses a turbine wheel of the forced-induction device.

Catalyst device

A catalyst device includes a central axis and a catalyst support. The catalyst support includes a slit that is arranged to be orthogonal to the central axis. The slit is arranged to be symmetrical with respect to an arbitrary plane that includes the central axis.

A catalyst device includes a catalyst carrier serving as a heating element that generates heat when energized. The catalyst device includes a guide pipe that guides exhaust into the case. The catalyst device includes a connecting pipe that connects the guide pipe to the case. The case has an end that is an insulative portion and projects further upstream, in the direction in which exhaust flows, from an end surface of the catalyst carrier. A temperature difference inducing structure, which induces a state in which the connecting pipe is relatively lower in temperature than the end of the case, includes a heat shield, encompassing an outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe and having an opening in part of a portion opposing the outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe, and a stay fixing the outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe to an internal combustion engine.

An electrically heated catalytic device is provided. The electrically heated catalytic device includes a cylindrical catalyst carrier. Two electrode units are attached to a side surface of the catalyst carrier. The side surface of the catalyst carrier includes slits each extending in an axial direction of the catalyst carrier. Each slit is filled with a filler that has a lower Young's modulus than the catalyst carrier. An average Young's modulus is a value obtained by averaging the Young's modulus of the filler at different portions of the slit over an entire length of the slit in the axial direction. The slits include a first slit and a second slit. The average Young's modulus of the first slit is a first value. The average Young's modulus of the second slit is a second value that is smaller than the first value.

Electrically heated catalytic device and method for manufacturing electrically heated catalytic device

A method of manufacturing an electrically heated catalyst device includes preparation of a metal thin plate as a material of a metal electrode layer. The metal thin plate includes wiring portions, a base, a terminal portion, a second base, and a pseudo terminal portion. The method includes supplying current between the terminal portion and the pseudo terminal portion of the metal thin plate after fixing layers are formed; and forming the metal electrode layer by removing a portion of the metal thin plate between a smallest cross-sectional area portion and a distal end of the pseudo terminal portion through melting and cutting of the smallest cross-sectional area portion using the Joule heat generated by the supplied current. The smallest cross-sectional area portion is a part of the metal thin plate that has a smallest area in a cross section perpendicular to the extending direction of the wiring portions.

Method of manufacturing electrically heated catalyst device, metal thin plate for electrode of electrically heated catalyst device, and electrically heated catalyst device

An electrically heated catalyst device includes a catalyst support, a low-potential-side electrode, and a high-potential-side electrode. In a case in which a current value between two electrodes, which are the low-potential-side electrode and the high-potential-side electrode, is gradually increased from 0, the current value between the two electrodes is referred to as an electrode fusing current value when, in each of the low-potential-side electrode and the high-potential-side electrode, a temperature of any section of the electrode first reaches a melting point of a material of the electrode. The low-potential-side electrode is configured to have a lower electrode fusing current value than the high-potential-side electrode.

Electrically heated catalyst device

A controller controls energization of a filter and a fuel addition valve in an exhaust purifying apparatus. The controller executes a filter regeneration process when an electrical resistance value between two electrodes fixed to an outer surface of the filter is less than a predetermined regeneration determination value. The controller executes a soot burning process when the electrical resistance value is greater than or equal to the regeneration determination value and less than a soot burning determination value, which is set in advance to be larger than the regeneration determination value.

Exhaust purifying apparatus and method for controlling exhaust purifying apparatus

An electrically heated catalytic device includes a carrier that supports a catalyst, a surface electrode provided on an outer circumferential surface of the carrier, and metal electrodes arranged side by side on the surface electrode. The surface electrode includes an arrangement region where the metal electrodes are arranged and a non-arrangement region where the metal electrodes are not arranged. The metal electrodes are spaced apart from one another in an axial direction of the carrier in the arrangement region. The non-arrangement region is adjacent to the arrangement region in the axial direction of the carrier. An electrical resistance of the non-arrangement region is higher than an electrical resistance of the arrangement region in the surface electrode.

Electrically heated catalytic device

Provided a rotating electrical machine including a rotor; a stator; and a fluid control mechanism has a first member and a second member, and is configured to create a flow of a fluid directed from one side toward the other side in an axial direction of the rotating shaft, on an outer periphery of the rotor. The first member has a portion at which the outside diameter increases gradually from the one side toward the other side, and is configured such that a shape of an outer circumferential surface is continuous with the shape of an outer circumferential surface of an end portion, in an axial direction, of the rotor. The second member is configured such that an inside diameter increases gradually from the one side toward the other side at a portion facing the portion of the first member at which the outside diameter increases gradually.

Rotating electrical machine

The manufacturing method for a turbocharger includes: connecting a shaft-side member to an actuator while the shaft-side member is inserted into a bush; combining the shaft-side member with a valve body-side member; and fixing the shaft-side member to the valve body-side member in a state where a wastegate valve is driven by the actuator so as to close the wastegate valve, and a contact surface of the valve body is pressed against a bearing surface.

Manufacturing method for turbocharger

A fuel cell system includes a motor driving a compressor that supplies air to a fuel cell, a turbine assisting the compressor, a bypass valve that opens and closes the bypass flow path, and a controller. When a required air flow rate is equal to or higher than a threshold value, the controller closes the bypass valve and controls the motor to cause the air to flow through the fuel cell at a flow rate corresponding to the required air flow rate. When the required air flow rate is lower than the threshold value, the controller opens the bypass valve to cause the air to flow through the bypass flow path and controls the motor to cause the air to flow through the fuel cell at the flow rate corresponding to the required air flow rate.

Fuel cell system and control method of fuel cell system

Provided is a rotor that is long in the axial direction of the rotary shaft without increasing the ratio L/D between the length L and the inner diameter D of the permanent magnet. The permanent magnet of the rotor includes a plurality of sub-magnets that are divided in the axial direction A of the rotary shaft. The armor ring includes a plurality of sub-rings that are divided in the axial direction A. The connector is disposed on the inner periphery of a connecting part between the two sub-rings and that are adjacent in the axial direction A and is disposed between the two sub-magnets that are adjacent in the axial direction A. The sub-magnets each have a recess that is depressed in the axial direction A. The connector has protrusions that fit to the recesses of the magnet.

Rotor

A turbocharger includes a wastegate and a turbine housing having a wastegate port. A valve member of the wastegate includes a recess, which defines a gas receiving chamber, into which exhaust gas that has passed through the wastegate port flows when the wastegate port is closed. The inner wall surface of the recess has a guide sidewall located on the outer side of the wastegate port when the wastegate port is closed by the valve member. The guide sidewall includes an inclined surface, which is inclined to approach the center of the gas receiving chamber toward the inlet of the gas receiving chamber.

Turbocharger that is configured to direct exhaust gas away from a contact surface

A wastegate valve includes a swing arm, a valve body including a valve stem inserted through an insertion hole of the swing arm and a valve plate configured to close a wastegate port, a support plate being fixed to an end of the valve stem on a side opposite to the valve plate, and an elastic member biasing the valve plate in a extending direction of the valve stem. The elastic member includes a plurality of first lug portions and a plurality of second lug portions projecting from an outer peripheral edge of a connecting portion of the elastic member. The first lug portions and the second lug portions curve toward different sides in the extending direction of the valve stem.

Wastegate valve for turbocharger

A fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell; a compressor; a turbine; an electric motor; a first transmission configured to change a gear ratio between the compressor and the electric motor, the first transmission being linked to the compressor rotating shaft and the motor rotating shaft; and a second transmission configured to change a gear ratio between the turbine and the electric motor, the second transmission being linked to the turbine rotating shaft and the motor rotating shaft. A gear ratio of the first transmission and a gear ratio of the second transmission are set such that a rotating speed of the electric motor is lower than a rotating speed of the compressor and a rotating speed of the turbine and such that a rotating speed of the compressor is higher than the rotating speed of the turbine.
