A fixing unit includes an endless belt, a heating unit configured to heat the belt, a pressure rotary member configured to form a fixing nip portion that nips and conveys a recording material with the belt, a pad configured to press the belt toward the pressure rotary member, a sliding sheet provided on the pad and configured to slide against the belt, a plate-like member configured to fix the sliding sheet to the pad, the sliding sheet being fixed in a manner sandwiched between the plate-like member and the pad, and fixing tools configured to fix the plate-like member at a plurality of positions along a longitudinal direction of the plate-like member. A width of the sliding sheet is wider than a width of the fixing nip portion and narrower than a width of the plate-like member in the longitudinal direction.

Fixing unit

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device which includes a fixing unit including an endless fixing belt, a heating portion, and a temperature detecting portion and which includes a nip forming member; a first storing portion; and a controller. In a case that a predetermined part of a plurality of parts is exchanged, the controller succeeds information other than information on the predetermined part of information on the fixing device stored in the first storing portion, and determines a target temperature in temperature adjustment control by using the succeeded information and information on the predetermined part used after being exchanged.

An image forming apparatus includes a controller that changes a rotating unit between a rotating state and a stop state, and a temperature of a heating portion to be a predetermined temperature by performing a heating operation. The controller performs, in order, a non-heating rotating process of setting the rotating unit in the rotating state, without controlling the temperature of the heating portion, after fixing the toner image on the recording material, a heating rotating process of controlling the temperature of the heating portion to be the predetermined temperature while setting the rotating unit in the rotating state, and a heating stopping process of controlling the temperature of the heating portion to be the predetermined temperature while setting the rotating unit in the stop state. The controller stops the heating operation in the heating stopping process after a predetermined period.

An image forming apparatus includes a heating member which heats a recording material on which an unfixed toner image has been formed, a pressurizing member which forms a nip portion between the heating member and the pressurizing member and applies pressure to press the recording material against the heating member in the nip portion, and a controller which applies a voltage, which has a polarity opposite to the polarity of the surface potential of the charged pressurizing member and a predetermined voltage value with which electric discharge does not occur between a hole in a surface layer of the pressurizing member and the heating member, to the heating member to remove electricity from the surface layer of the pressurizing member when the recording material is not present in the nip portion.

To prevent a flap of an envelope from sticking to an envelope main body, an image forming apparatus includes: an image forming portion forming a toner image on the envelope; a fixing device fixing the toner image onto the envelope by heating the envelope while conveying the envelope on which the toner image is formed by the image forming portion; and a conveying roller pair that rotates while nipping the envelope, onto which the toner image is fixed by the fixing device, to convey the envelope. A driven roller of the conveying roller pair includes driven runners divided in a rotary shaft center direction, and one driven runner located at one end is inclined in a direction separating from another driven runner so that an outer peripheral surface of the one driven runner is brought into contact with a corner portion of a rubber roller.
