The present disclosure relates to an image processing apparatus and method that enable suppression of a reduction in subjective image quality. Image processing is performed on each of a plurality of frame images before projection. The image processing suppresses an influence of superimposition of the plurality of frame images in a projection image in projecting each of the plurality of frame images cyclically using a corresponding one of a plurality of projection sections. The plurality of frame images is included in a moving image. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, an image processing apparatus, an image projection apparatus, a control apparatus, an information processing apparatus, an image projection system, an image processing method, a program, or the like.

Correction performance is improved regarding a synthetic blur in which a plurality of blur characteristics is synthesized, for example, a focus blur that occurs in a superimposed projection image, or the like. An image processing device according to the present technology includes: a correction unit that obtains a plurality of blur-corrected images by performing blur correction processing on an input image regarding a focus blur that occurs in a projection image by an image projection device, by using a filter coefficient for blur correction corresponding to each of a plurality of blur characteristics, the filter each being obtained on the basis of the plurality of blur characteristics; and an image output unit that individually outputs the plurality of blur-corrected images obtained by the correction unit.

The present technology relates to an encoding device, an encoding method, a decoding device, and a decoding method that make it possible to accurately restore an image. The encoding device generates a filter image by performing, on a decoded image locally decoded, filter processing of applying a prediction equation including a second-order or higher higher-order term and performing a product-sum calculation of predetermined tap coefficients and pixels of the decoded image. Moreover, the encoding device encodes an original image by using the filter image. The decoding device decodes coded data included in an encoded bit stream by using a filter image, to generate a decoded image. Moreover, the decoding device generates the filter image by performing, on the decoded image, filter processing of applying a prediction equation. The present technology can be applied to a case where encoding and decoding of an image are performed.

There is provided an apparatus and a method that perform a process of improving the quality of a low-quality image such as a far-infrared image. The apparatus includes an image correction unit that repeatedly performs an image correction process using a plurality of processing units in at least two stages. Each of the processing units in each stage performs a correction process for the low-quality image, using a class correspondence correction coefficient corresponding to a feature amount extracted from a degraded image of the high-quality image.
