A cooling apparatus includes a first vapor chamber which is formed of a combination of a first plate that receives heat from a heat source and a second plate facing the first plate, a liquid cooling section which includes a liquid cooling container combined with the first vapor chamber, and a plurality of first fins which are provided in the liquid cooling section and form a part of a channel of the liquid refrigerant. The second plate has a first inner surface constituting region which is located at the outer surface of the second plate and forms at least a part of a first inner surface of the liquid cooling section. The plurality of first fins are disposed in the first inner surface constituting region. The liquid cooling section has an introduction port and a discharge port.

A wavelength conversion device includes a rotating device, a substrate rotated by the rotating device, a wavelength conversion element, and a first cooling device including, on an inside, a space in which working fluid is encapsulated, the first cooling device cooling the wavelength conversion element. The first cooling device is disposed in a position corresponding to the wavelength conversion element. The space extends from an outer edge side of the substrate to a rotation axis side. The first cooling device includes an evaporator and a condenser which are provided in the space. The evaporator includes a liquid retaining part configured to retain the working fluid in a liquid phase. The liquid retaining part is provided at the outer edge side in the space and disposed in the position corresponding to the wavelength conversion element.

A projector includes a light source device and a cooling device. The light source device includes a first light source having a plurality of first light emitting elements, a second light source having a plurality of second light emitting elements, and a light combining member adapted to combine light. The cooling device includes a first cooling section adapted to cool the first light emitting elements with a liquid refrigerant so that a first temperature difference increases in a first direction, and a second cooling section adapted to cool the second light emitting elements with a liquid refrigerant so that a second temperature difference increases in a second direction. The first and second light sources are arranged so that an illuminance distribution caused by the first temperature difference and an illuminance distribution caused by the second temperature difference are canceled out in the light combining member.

A lighting device includes a supporting section configured to support a light source device unit, a fan housing section in which an outflow port for causing the air discharged by a cooling fan to flow out is formed, and a circulating device supported by the light source device unit. The outflow port is opened in a direction along a second direction. The light source device unit includes an inflow port opened to a side opposed to the outflow port and a channel for leading the air flowing in from the inflow port to a light source. The circulating device includes a moving section disposed between the light source device unit and the fan housing section in a predetermined position, a ventilation hole for causing the outflow port and the inflow port to communicate being formed in the moving section, and an urging section configured to urge the moving section.

In one embodiment, a light source device includes a tubular body disposed in the front side of a reflection mirror in the light emission direction and surrounding an arc tube. A pair of ducts connects with the tubular body and are provided with a first channel and a second channel to guide air. A channel switching mechanism allows air to flow through the first channel or the second channel. The tubular body includes a pair of communicating ports configured to supply air flowing through the first channel and the second channel toward the light emission portion. The pair of communicating ports are disposed on a virtual line passing through the center line of the arc tube and crossing the vertical direction and the horizontal direction as viewed in a direction along the center line.

A projector includes an optical part including a light source section that outputs light, a light modulator that modulates the light outputted from the light source section based on an image signal, a projection optical section that projects the modulated light from the light modulator, a first fan that cools the optical part, and a fan controller that controls the first fan, and the fan controller operates the first fan intermittently when the light source section outputs light of luminance lower than luminance corresponding to normal image display.

A light source device including an arc tube having a light emission portion containing electrodes, a cooling channel having a downstream part branched into first and second channels to guide air toward the light emission portion via one of the channels, a rotational member disposed within the cooling channel and rotatable around a rotation shaft by gravity, and configured to switch cooling to the first or second channel depending on a position of the light source device, and a duct that forms apart of the cooling channel. The width of the rotational member decreases from a remote end toward the rotation shaft. The rotation shaft is disposed on one end of the rotational member corresponding to a side opposite a light emission side of the duct. The duct is shaped such that the cooling channel width decreases toward the side opposite the light emission side.

A light source device includes: a tubelar body disposed in the front side of a reflection mirror in the light emission direction and surrounding an arc tube; a pair of ducts connecting with the tubelar body and provided with a first channel and a second channel to guide air; and a channel switching mechanism which allows air to flow through the first channel or the second channel. A light source device includes: a light emission portion; a cooling channel configured to guide air toward the light emission portion; a rotational member disposed within the cooling channel in such a condition as to be rotatable around a predetermined rotation shaft by gravity, and configured to switch the cooling channel to a first channel branched from the cooling channel in the downstream when the light source device is set in a first position, and to a second channel different from the first channel when the light source device is set in a second position, wherein a position of the center of gravity of the rotational member is located at a position shifted from the center between the rotation shaft and an end of the rotational member away from the rotation shaft toward the end.
