A compact keyboard for use in a portable electronic device includes keys arranged in two level sets. Each set includes an upper level and a lower level, and the keys of the upper and lower levels of each set are arranged in an interdigitated or staggered fashion such the keys of each set form a pattern similar to a pattern of a single row of keys of a standard full-sized keyboard. This key arrangement allows a compact device having limited horizontal dimensions to mimic a key pattern arrangement of a full-sized keyboard. The keys may have pointed indicator portions that bear a character or symbol that indicates the functions of the keys. The pointed indicator portions of the upper and lower levels of a single set may be interdigitated such that characters or symbols on the keys are arranged in a substantially straight line.

Keyboard device

A printing device which comprises a thermal head for printing a dot pattern image, a driving mechanism for moving a tape which serves as a recording medium, and a DC motor, is disclosed. Printing by the thermal head is inhibited while the DC motor is accelerating. Printing is then executed when the DC motor rotates at a constant speed. The dot pattern image data is printed utilizing a printing frequency having a constant value and which is obtained by dividing a CPU clock. The rotation speed of the DC motor is preset by elements incorporated in the control circuit of the DC motor.

To provide a device which can easily copy an image within a limited area of an original. A reading window is defined in a lower projecting portion of a housing which is L-shaped in side elevation, providing a visual recognition member. The visual recognition member allows the user to visually recognize the image to be copied over which the housing is placed. When a start button is depressed, a sensor is reciprocally moved by a wire. An image read by the sensor is printed on a tape by a print head. The printed head tape is fed by a tape feed roller operatively coupled by a gear train to a motor which also drives the wire through a gear train.

Magnetic disc storage equipment for recording and reproducing signals on a magnetic disc comprising a carriage for shifting a magnetic head in a radial direction of the magnetic disc upon which is recorded signals on a respective divided sector of a track, a shifting bolt which is screwed with the carriage, a stepping motor which is interlocked with the shifting bolt and rotates the shifting bolt by a destined number of steps corresponding to a respective track gap to adjust the magnetic head at each track through the carriage, detecting means to detect signals which are read by the magnetic head at a desired track position, and shifting means to shift the magnetic head to an appropriate position based on the signals which are detected by the detecting means.
