An optical transmission module according to the disclosure comprises a first optical transmission line, a second optical transmission line, and a ferrule. The first optical transmission line has a first end face. The second optical transmission line has a second end face opposed to the first end face of the first optical transmission line. An end of the first optical transmission line is situated inside the ferule, and the ferule has a light-transmittable intermediary portion situated between the first end face and the second end face.

An optical connector has a receptacle which is fastened on a substrate provided with an optical waveguide, and a plug which holds an optical fiber and is positioned with respect to the receptacle. In the receptacle, an exposing opening for exposing an end face of the optical waveguide and a pin hole which opens in an opening direction of the exposing opening are provided. The plug has a facing surface facing the receptacle; a protruding part which protrudes from the facing surface, is formed integrally with the facing surface, exposes the an end face of the optical fiber on its front end face, and is inserted into the exposing opening; and the pin which is provided on the facing surface and is fitted in the pin hole. The front end face of the protruding part is located further toward an insertion direction side than a front end of the pin.

Optical connector, optical transmission module, and plug for optical connector

The optical connector has the receptacle which is fastened to the board provided with the optical waveguides and has the plug which holds the optical fibers and is connected to the receptacle. The receptacle has the positioning member which positions the optical fibers to the optical waveguides to connect them optically by abutment against the plug and has the fastening member which is fastened to the board and fastens the positioning member to the optical waveguides.

Optical transmission structure and method for manufacturing the same, and optical transmission module

An integrated optical transmission board in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes: a first optical transmission board having a first optical transmission line; a second optical transmission board having a second optical transmission line; and an optical coupling structure which is disposed between the first optical transmission board and the second optical transmission board and has a third optical transmission line for providing optical connection between the first optical transmission line and the second optical transmission line. The first optical transmission board further has a first engagement portion provided in an area thereof opposed to the optical coupling structure. The optical coupling structure further has a second engagement portion provided in an area thereof opposed to the first optical transmission board so as to make engagement with the first engagement portion.

An optical transmission substrate includes an optical transmission body provided in a through hole which has excellent and uniform propagation characteristics. The optical transmission substrate includes: a substrateformed by laminating a plurality of dielectric sheets; and a plurality of cylindrical refractive-index distribution bodieseach of which is made of a photosensitive polymeric material formed in a through holepenetrating each of the dielectric sheets, each of the refractive-index distribution body including a truncated conical coreand a periphery. Each of the coreshas a higher refractive index in the radial direction than the periphery and has a large-diameter end face and a small-diameter end face. The cores of refractive-index distribution bodies have a first core and a second core in the two adjoining dielectric sheet, and, the large-diameter end face of the first core and the small-diameter end face of the second core face each other and optically couple together.

Optical transmission substrate, method for fabricating the same, and optoelectronic hybrid substrate

A photoinduced refractive-index changing region is formed by irradiating while focusing a single beam of pulse laser light having an energy amount to cause a photoinduced change in refractive index onto a light guide of an optical element such as a lens, a mirror, a diffraction grating, a polarizer, or a wavelength filter. In the photoinduced refractive-index changing region, since the refractive index is periodically changed in one direction, of the light propagating through the optical element, only a polarized light penetrates through this photoinduced refractive-index changing region. Accordingly, the photoinduced refractive-index changing region can be functioned as a polarizer.
