An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that has multiple developing units, arranged in series for basic colors in a rotational driving direction of a transfer body, for developing toner images of the basic colors based on input image data and forms the overlapped toner images on a surface of the transfer body in a state in which the toner images are aligned; a transferring unit that transfers the toner images onto a sheet; and a controller that calculates a difference between color information of an image obtained by reading the toner images and color information of the input image data, calculates a color change direction of the toner images with respect to a color of the input image data based on the difference, and refers to a table and determines a shape of a surface of the sheet based on information of the color change direction.

An image forming device includes: an image forming section configured to form an image onto a recording medium in which sheets are laminated via an adhesive layer; a detection unit configured to detect an amount of an adhesive adhered beyond both edges of the recording medium in a width direction orthogonal to a transport direction; and a control unit configured to calculate a correction amount for correcting an image formation condition for the image forming section on the basis of a difference in the amount of the adhesive on both edges of the recording medium in the width direction detected by the detection unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a correction amount calculator, a fluidity measuring unit, and an external additive amount calculator. The correction amount calculator calculates a correction amount of fluidity to correct the fluidity of a two-component developer. The fluidity measuring unit measures the fluidity of the two-component developer. The external additive amount calculator corrects the measured fluidity on the basis of the correction amount of fluidity, calculates the amount of an external additive of a toner from the corrected fluidity of the two-component developer, and determines the state of the external additive.

An image inspection apparatus includes: a light source configured to emit white light onto a test image formed on a paper sheet; an optical lens system configured to receive light reflected by the paper sheet, the reflected light being of the white light emitted from the light source; a separating unit configured to separate light having passed through the optical lens system; a reading unit configured to receive the separated light at the different wavelengths, and optically read the test image of the light; and a control unit configured to calculate edge blurs at a rising edge and a falling edge of each set of image data of the light obtained by the reading unit reading the test image, calculate widths of the test image, and determine the width calculated from the set of image data having the smallest edge blur to be the width of the test image.
