A sealing agent is filled into gaps between adjacent groups of electric wires and gaps between the groups of the electric wires and an inner peripheral surface of a grommet. The sealing agent is of a two-liquid reactive hardening type and includes a main agent and a hardening agent, the main agent containing a viscosity depressant mixed with hardening accelerators at a predetermined ratio. The sealing agent has a viscosity of 200 cps-500 cps in a grommet-to-wire assembly environment and gels in three to seven minutes. The mixing weight ratio between the main agent and the hardening agent of the sealing agent is set to a range of 5.5:1-1:1. The main agent includes polyether polyol, triethanolamine and dibutyltin dilaurate both used as the hardening accelerators, a low-molecular weight aromatic hydrocarbon used as a viscosity depressant, and an anti-oxidant. The hardening agent includes polyisocyanate.

Sealant for filling grommet, method for sealing a wire harness using the sealant and sealing structure

In an automotive vehicle, a wire harness includes a wire bundle which is housed in and protected by a corrugated tube. The tube has two end regions circular in cross-section and a central region elliptical or race-track shaped in cross-section. Between the end regions and central region are transition regions of varying cross-sectional shape. When installed in a vehicle, the central region of the wire harness tube is installed along the vehicle floor such that the projection perpendicular to the floor by the central region of the tube is reduced. This results in the wire harness requiring less space in the vehicle. The tube includes a resilient expansion slit which allows a wire bundle to be inserted in or removed from the tube.

A grommet used in an automobile reduces noise leakage from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment. It is made of rubber or an elastomer, and it includes a small tube portion, through which a wiring harness is passed, a frustoconical tube portion flaring from an edge of the small tube portion and a flared portion, on the outer surface of which is formed a recess for fitting into a body panel. An internal tube portion through which the wiring harness is passed extends axially from the small tube portion in the frustoconical tube portion, and a closing portion is connected to the flared portion and to the edge of the internal tube portion distal to the edge of the small tube portion.

Noise-prevention grommet and process for manufacturing the same

A tying device for tying a wiring harness having a first annular holder for holding general wires, which has a first slit for inserting therethrough the general wires into the first annular holder; and a second annular holder for holding specific wires, which has a second slit for inserting therethrough the specific wires into the second annular holder and has a diameter smaller than that of the first annular holder so as to extend into the first annular holder from an inner peripheral surface of the first annular holder through a rib; wherein the second annular holder is positioned at a central portion of the first annular holder such that a space for accommodating the general wires is defined between the inner peripheral surface of the first annular holder and an outer peripheral surface of the second annular holder.
