A double-row angular contact ball bearing for a CT scanning device includes an inner member including a pair of raceway rings. The raceway rings have positioning holes into which a positioning member is inserted, to thereby suppress radial decentering of the raceway rings. Both the raceway rings are fastened by fixing bolts. The raceway rings have opposed end surfaces, and are fastened by the fixing bolts to bring the end surfaces into abutment against each other to apply a preload at a fixed position between balls and raceway surfaces. The following relationship is set: Db/h&#x2264;0.26, where Db represents a diameter of each of the balls, and h represents a radial dimension from a center of each of the balls to an inner diameter of the inner member.

An object is to provide a motor-incorporation-spindle ball bearing capable of allowing cooling air which enters inside the bearing of the motor-incorporation-spindle to be discharged smoothly out of the bearing without causing turbulent flow inside the bearing, does not cause a retainer easily to be vibrated, and provides a high level of silent operation. A seal plate has a length to allow air to pass through the bearing from an entrance side toward an exit side substantially straightly without resistance. Therefore, the seal plate is less likely to be exposed to unnecessary force when the air passes through the bearing; the seal plate is prevented from wobble and deformation; stable sealing is ensured; the air is discharged smoothly without causing turbulent flow inside the bearing; a retainer is not easily vibrated, and silent operation is maintained.

A bearing seal is fitted into a seal groove formed in an outer race, and firmly mounted to the outer race. First detent ribs and second detent ribs are formed on both surfaces of one side of a seal base plate made of rubber and having the shape of a strip. When one side of the seal base plate is fitted into the seal groove formed in an inner diameter surface of the outer race, the first detent ribs and second detent ribs come into elastic contact with the side surfaces of the seal groove, respectively, so as to prevent the bearing seal from being pulled out of the seal groove.

Any one of the outer member and the inner member includes a pair of raceway rings, both of the pair of raceway rings being fastened with a fixing bolt and having positioning holes into which a positioning member is fit-inserted, to thereby suppress misalignment in a radial direction of the pair of raceway rings.

In the bearing, the depths of ball grooves formed in the inner ring and the outer ring of the ball bearing are set so that the risk rate of the ball being stranded on the shoulder becomes approximately the same for the inner ring and the outer ring under pure thrust load. Furthermore, the depth of the ball groove of the outer ring is set shallower than the depth of the ball groove of the inner ring. The depth of the ball groove of the outer ring is set in a range of 12-19% of the diameter of the ball.
