In order to provide an yellow recording liquid having superior spray stability, superior preservation stability, and superior water resistance of a recorded image, etc, yellow pigment particles which have been rendered hydrophilic (accepted a sulfonic acid group) at least on the surface (hydrophilic particles) are dispersed in a liquid. In the product yellow recording liquid, the hydrophilic particles are uniformly dispersed and the particles do not aggregate each other. Thus, the uniformly dispersed state of hydrophilic particles as a recording material can be maintained for a long period, thus realizing an yellow recording liquid having a superior spray stability and superior preservation stability. Further, the hydrophilic particles are also hydrophobic by the intrinsic property of the yellow pigment. Thus, the yellow recording liquid has desirable fixability with respect to a surface of a recording medium (recording surface), regardless of whether the recording surface is hydrophilic or hydrophobic.

Yellow recording liquid and producing method thereof and the use thereof

A particle surface-modifying method has the steps of suspending particles in a liquid containing a modifier so as to prepare a suspension, and heating the suspension while it is being transported so that the surface of the particles is modified by the modifier. This method makes it possible to provide surface-modified particles having a comparatively small particle size at low costs for a short time by using simple operations, without causing the particles to be charged.

Particles are cooled at a particle introducing section by a cooling device. A vapor of modifying agent for modifying the particles is produced by heating the modifying agent in a vapor producing chamber by a heating device. Further, a supersaturated vapor of the modifying agent is produced around the particles by mixing the cooled particles with the vapor of the modifying agent. The modifying agent condenses on the surface of the particles by the production of the supersaturated vapor, and consequently, a film of the modifying agent is formed on the surface of the particles. A thick film of the modifying agent can be formed if this film forming step is carried out repetitively. Thus, modified particles having formed thereon a thick uniform film of the modifying agent can be produced by quite a simple manipulation in a very short time.

Method and apparatus for modifying particles

The modified ink particle includes a main body; and a modified portion formed from a modifier on at least a part of a surface of the main body of the ink particle by vapor-depositing the vaporized modifier on the surface of the floating main body. With the arrangement, modified ink particles that have relatively small and homogeneous particle diameters and are suitable for color filters can be manufactured without charging the particles, by means of a simple device and operation, in a short time, and at low costs.

A particle surface improving method for forming a film of a surface improving agent that improves the property of a particle surface by exposing particles to a supersaturation atmosphere of the surface improving agent to let the surface improving agent condense on the particle surface. This method can improve the particle surface by a simpler manipulation in a shorter time without charging the particles.

In the present method of manufacturing modified particles, a saturated vapor of a monomer B is produced in a condensing chamber, and then particles containing a monomer A, which differs from the monomer B and is polymerizable therewith, are introduced, along with an inert gas, into the condensing chamber through a particle intake. Then, a super-saturated vapor of the monomer B is created by reducing pressure using a pressurizing/depressurizing opening, thereby condensing the monomer B on the surface of the particles, and causing a polymerization reaction between the monomer A and the monomer B. With this method, spherical modified particles of uniform diameter, which include a polymer of the monomers A and B, can be obtained in a short time, by means of simple operations.

An ink jet recording head includes a plurality of plate-like individual heads. Each individual head includes an individual head member having a main surface, a backside surface, a first side surface, and a plurality of second side surfaces. The first side surface includes a plurality of ink jet outlets aligned in a direction parallel to the main surface. Each individual head member includes a plurality of ink paths to supply ink to the plurality of ink jet outlets respectively. Each individual head includes a plurality of drive elements provided on the main surface corresponding to the plurality of ink paths respectively to generate pressure at the plurality of ink paths, and a plurality of electrodes provided corresponding to the plurality of drive elements to apply voltage individually to the plurality of drive elements. An image forming apparatus forms an electrostatic latent image on a latent image forming body having a dielectric material layer on its surface when a write electrode comes into contact with the dielectric material layer. The image forming apparatus develops the electrostatic latent image with a charged developer, and transfers a visual image thus obtained onto recording paper. The dielectric material layer is composed of a PZT (lead titanate zirconate) which is formed through crystal growth by the hydrothermal method. The dielectric material layer has a high relative dielectric constant and exhibits the pyroelectric effect. Furthermore, since the dielectric material layer is composed of the PZT which is formed through crystal growth by the hydrothermal method, the dielectric material layer can be formed without a heat treatment at a high temperature. Therefore, it is possible to provide, at a low cost, the image forming apparatus having the latent image forming body with which the development of an image at a high recording density is enabled at a low-level power consumption.
