A communication system allows terminals PCand PClocated behind NAT routers to communicate with each other by using source address, source port number, destination address and destination port number. The terminals PCand PCsend data to a server in order to notify respective partner terminals PCand PCof their respective source port numbers. A session terminal apparatus constitutes a network session system together with another session terminal apparatus. In the session terminal apparatus, a back performance instruction part instructs reproduction of back performance information. A back performance control part transmits the back performance information, when the reproduction thereof is instructed by the back performance instruction part, to another session terminal apparatus, and controls a performance reproduction part to start reproducing the back performance information when a monitor delay time corresponding to a communication delay time between the session terminal apparatus and another session terminal apparatus has elapsed after the reproduction of the back performance information was instructed.

In a communication system, using source address, source port number, destination address and destination port number, terminals A and B located behind NAT routers A and B, respectively, communicate with each other through the NAT routers A and B. A server SV which is not located behind any NAT routers identifies the NAT router A as a NAT router of a certain type which translates the source port number into a different source port number if the destination port number is changed. The server SV then guesses a port number obtained by adding (or subtracting) a value to (or from) the source port number used for transmission of data from the terminal A through the NAT router A as a port number of the terminal A in a case where the NAT router has been identified as the certain type, and informs the terminal B of the guessed port number.

In this system, a terminal A retrieves terminal's input delay time Tia from input of an audio signal to start of transmission of the audio signal, transmission delay time Tn from the start of transmission of the audio signal to reception of the audio signal by a partner terminal B, partner's reception buffering delay time Tbfb from reception of the audio signal to output of the audio signal by a reception buffer portion BFb of the partner terminal B, and partner's output delay time Tob from input of the audio signal to output of the audio signal by an audio reproduction portion DRob of the partner terminal B. The terminal A then sums up these delay times to determine input/output delay time Ttab from the input of the audio signal by the terminal A to the output of the audio signal by the audio reproduction portion DRob of the partner terminal B.

Delay measurement apparatus and delay measurement method for network music session

A music session system which makes it possible to expand the functions of electronic musical apparatuses. The server is connected to a first electronic musical apparatus belonging to a first user and capable of executing music sessions, a first personal computer (PC) belonging to the first user and capable of executing additional functions, a second electronic musical apparatus belonging to a second user and capable of executing music sessions, and a second PC belonging to the second user and capable of executing additional functions via a network so as to perform transmission and reception of information to and from these apparatuses. When the first electronic musical apparatus requests the apparatuses belonging to the second user to execute a music session and an additional function, the first and second electronic musical apparatuses are instructed to execute the music session, and the first and second PCs are instructed to execute the additional function.

Each of a plurality of pad devices that can be moved independent of each other includes: a sensor section for detecting a strike; and a transmitting section for transmitting operation information according to an output of the sensor section with wireless communication. A receiving section is provided in connection with a sound generating device to receive the operation information transmitted from each of the pad devices with wireless communication. The sound generating device generates a musical tone signal in accordance with the received operation information. A pad location detecting section detects a location of each of the pad devices. The sound generating device carries out tone generation control, for example, sound image localization control, for the musical tone signal generated in correspondence with each of the pad devices in accordance with the location of each of the pad devices detected by the pad location detecting section.
