The present invention provides a photosensitive recording material having a support, and a photosensitive layer and a protective layer formed in this order on or above the support. The photosensitive layer contains a polymerization initiator, a sensitizing agent, and a polymerizable compound. Further, the protective layer contains a water-insoluble and alkali-soluble dye that has an absorption wavelength region different from the absorption wavelength region of the sensitizing agent, and the dye is dispersed in a solid state in the protective layer. The present invention also provides a planographic printing plate precursor including the photosensitive recording material, a stack of the photosensitive recording materials, and a stack of the planographic printing plate precursors.

The present invention provides a method for producing a planographic printing plate and a dummy plate for planographic printing in a CTP plate-making system, the method including: taking one product out of a pile of multiple planographic printing plate precursors piled up on a base substrate and a pile of multiple dummy plate precursors for planographic printing piled up on another base substrate, distinguishing the kind of the one product, exposing the one product to an infrared ray when the one product is a planographic printing plate precursor, and developing the one product when the one product is other than the base substrate, wherein the base substrate surface, the planographic printing plate precursor, and the dummy plate precursor for planographic printing each have a different absorption maximum in a range of 350 to 700 nm and an absorbance at the absorption maximum of 0.2 or more.

The present invention provides an image forming method comprising the steps of exposing imagewisely an image forming material having a photosensitive layer comprising an infrared absorbing agent, a polymerization initiator and a polymerizable compound on a substrate to overlapping infrared beams. The solubility of the photosensitive layer in an alkali developing solution reduces upon exposure to light of wavelengths in the range of 750 nm to 1400 nm. The exposed image forming material is developed, and the infrared beam diameter used in light exposure is 20 &#x3bc;m or less, and the overlapping coefficient is 0.8 or more.

The present invention provides a planographic printing plate precursor having a support, a photosensitive layer and a protective layer. The photosensitive layer contains at least an infrared absorbing agent, a polymerization initiating agent, a polymerizable compound and a binder polymer having repeating units represented by the following Formula (i). Further, the protective layer contains at least an inorganic lamellar compound.  In Formula (i), Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; Rrepresents a connecting group having two or more types of atom selected from the group consisting of a carbon atom, a hydrogen atom, an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, and a sulfur atom and having 2 to 82 atoms in total; A represents an oxygen atom or &#x2014;NR&#x2014;, and Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and n is an integer of 1 to 5.

Planographic printing plate precursor

A planographic printing plate precursor, including: a substrate; a photosensitive layer containing an IR absorber, a polymerization initiator, a polymerizable compound and a binder polymer; and a protective layer containing a UV absorber, disposed in this order. The photosensitive layer exhibits reduction in solubility in an alkaline developing solution upon being exposed to light having a wavelength of 750 nm to 1400 nm.

The present invention provides a polymerizable composition comprising (A) a compound including a polymerizable unsaturated group and (B) a macromolecular compound including, at a side chain thereof, a structure represented by the following general formula (I):ZM&#x2003;&#x2003;General formula (I)wherein Zrepresents COCOO, COO, SO, or SO&#x2014;N&#x2014;R where R represents a monovalent organic group and Mrepresents an onium cation. The present invention provides a photosensitive composition including a compound that generates a radical by application of light or heat, a polymer having a phenyl group substituted with a vinyl group on the side chain, a monomer having two or more phenyl groups substituted with a vinyl group, an infrared absorbing agent, and a compound having at least one carboxylic acid group and a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 or less. Additionally, the invention provides a planographic printing plate precursor including a substrate and a negative recording layer provided on the substrate and containing the above photosensitive composition.
