An information search system for searching detection algorithm information of spectral data necessary for determining a target event from a photographed subject includes a first relational database configured to store, in advance, a first relevance index having at least three levels between each target event of the subject and the detection algorithm information, a target event input unit configured to receive input information regarding a target event of the subject to be newly determined, and a search unit configured to search at least one piece of detection algorithm information on the basis of information regarding the target event received by the target event input unit by referencing the first relevance index stored in the first relational database.

The electrostatic protection devicecomprising an insulating laminate, a pair of discharge electrodesandinside the insulating laminateand a discharge triggered partdisposed between these discharge electrodes and at the periphery of the end portion of the discharge electrode is configured by disposing glass-containing insulating layersandon the surfaces of the discharge electrodes. The flow of conductive inorganic materials in the discharge electrodes towards the discharge triggered part caused by the discharging process can be inhibited by arranging the insulating layer containing glass on the surfaces of the discharge electrodes.

Electrostatic protection device

An ESD protection device is provided which has a low electrostatic capacitance, a low short-circuiting rate and an excellent durability. Also, in the ESD protection device, the damage derived from short-circuiting or the peak voltage can be inhibited. The ESD protection device includes an insulating substrate, electrodes separately and oppositely disposed on the insulating substrate and a discharge inducing section arranged between the electrodes. The discharge inducing section consists of porous structure with microscopic voids discontinuously dispersed therein and has a hollow structure in which at least one hollow space is contained. Further, the plane where the hollow structure is formed has a dense structure.

To provide an antistatic device having a low capacitance, good discharge characteristics, and small variations in the discharge characteristics. In a so-called gap-type antistatic device in which a space between a pair of opposing electrodes is filled with an electrostatic protection material, a discharge inducing portion has protrusions protruding from interfaces between the opposing electrodes and the insulation substrates toward the insulation substrates and has a shape protruding on both sides of the insulation substrates. The relationship among the gap distance between the electrodes, the thicknesses of the opposing electrodes, and the protrusions of the discharge inducing portion is controlled under specific conditions.

An interactive communication apparatus has a video signal, obtained by an image pickup device performing an image pickup activity, and which has the obtained video signal sent to another apparatus through a communication device while causing a display device to display an image based on a video signal received from the other apparatus through the communication device. A Set-Top Box configured with a modem and a Main Circuit Board consistent with certain embodiments learns the modem's IP address by establishing a predetermined relationship between a hardware address of the modem and a hardware address of the Main Circuit Board; at the Main Circuit Board: ascertaining the hardware address of the modem from the predetermined relationship; sending a query from the Main Circuit Board to the hardware address of the modem requesting the modem's IP address; and receiving a reply from the modem providing the modem's IP address to the Main Circuit Board. IP address discovery for cable modem in set-top box

An infrared communication system is disclosed, that has a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter includes a modulator, a first converter, an infrared transmission section. The modulator modulates a first electric signal and generates a second signal as a modulated signal. The first converter converts the second signal into an infrared signal. The infrared transmission section transmits the infrared signal to the receiver. The receiver includes a filter, a second converter, and a demodulator. The filter restrains rays having a spectrum whose peak is present at a predetermined wavelength emitted by a plasma display panel. The second converter converts the infrared signal passed through the filter into a third electric signal. The demodulator demodulates the third electric signal.

A Set-Top Box configured with a modem and a Main Circuit Board determines an IP address of the modem by periodically broadcasting a Discovery Packet from the modem to a broadcast address, the Discovery Packet comprising at least the IP address of the modem.
