A medical device insertable into a blood vessel for effectively removing an object flowing in a biological lumen while reducing the burden on the living body includes an elongated shaft portion, and an expansion portion which is an elastically deformable cylindrical body having a plurality of gaps and in which a proximal portion or a distal portion of the cylindrical body is interlocked with the shaft portion. The expansion portion has a ring-shaped or annular bent portion which protrudes toward a proximal side position radially outside the expansion portion in a bent state of being bent along an axial direction, and an axial length of a second portion from the bent portion to a proximal end of the expansion portion is shorter than an axial length of a first portion from the bent portion to the distal end of the expansion portion.

A medical device is capable of aspirating an object in a body lumen, while preventing the retention of the object therein, and effectively discharging the object. The medical device includes: a rotatable drive shaft having a lumen; a cutting portion fixed to a distal portion of the drive shaft to cut the object; and a housing that contains a proximal portion of the drive shaft and has a discharge port through which the cut object is discharged. The drive shaft has a proximal opening portion that extends around a portion of a circumference of the drive shaft to expose a discharge opening. The discharge port includes a discharge hole through which the cut object discharged through the discharge opening of the proximal opening portion is discharged from the housing, and a guide surface that protrudes toward the proximal opening portion to guide the cut object into the discharge hole.

A catheter system includes a shaft main body including an elongated hollow outer tube and an inner tube accommodated in the inside of the elongated hollow outer tube. The hollow inside of the inner tube is suctioned from the proximal end side thereof. The outer tube has an opening formed in a circumferential surface thereof and an attaching portion provided therein on the distal end side with respect to the opening. The inner tube can move in an axial direction with respect to the outer tube, and at least a distal end side end portion thereof can move back and forth between a proximal end side position with respect to the opening and the attaching portion. The medical device includes an elongated shaft section; an expanding section that is an elastically deformable tubular body provided with a plurality of openings; a flexibly deformable tubular cover section that is coupled to an end portion on a proximal side of the expanding section, surrounds an outer periphery of the expanding section on the proximal side, but does not surround, and externally exposes, an outer periphery of the expanding section on a distal side; and a sheath capable of accommodating the expanding section and the cover section in a diameter-reduced state.

A medical device and a treatment method are disclosed capable of breaking an object in a body lumen efficiently with a lower burden on body lumen tissues. A medical device is disclosed that is inserted into the body lumen so as to crush an object in the body lumen, the medical device including: an elongated shaft that is to be rotatably driven, and a deformable breaking member that is connected to the shaft so as to be rotatable and extends along the shaft. The breaking member has a first contact portion and a second contact portion. The first contact portion is located most outward in the radial direction of the breaking member in a state in which the breaking member is expanded radially outward. The second contact portion is located more outward in the radial direction of the breaking member than the first contact portion in a contracted state.

A medical device for crushing an object in a body lumen, the medical device including: an elongated shaft portion rotatably driven; a crushing unit provided with bendable wire rods and rotatable together with the shaft portion; and a sliding unit fixed to each of end portion of the wire rods on at least one of a distal side of and a proximal side of the wire rods and is interlocked with the shaft portion so as to be slidable in an axial direction of the shaft portion. The shaft portion is provided with contact portions that come into contact with the sliding unit during rotation and limit relative rotation of the shaft portion and the sliding unit. After the sliding unit is attached to the contact portions, the sliding unit rotates in the same direction as the shaft portion along with the rotation of the shaft portion.

A medical device to be inserted into a body lumen to obstruct flow in the body lumen includes a shaft unit; a proximal slider and a distal slider that are slidable along the shaft unit; a first expanding member including a distal portion coupled to the proximal slider and a proximal portion coupled to the shaft unit; a second expanding member including a distal portion coupled to the distal slider and a proximal portion coupled to the proximal slider; and a cover that surrounds an outer periphery of the first expanding member and coupled to the proximal portion of the first expanding member, the cover being tubular and flexibly deformable independently of the first expanding member.
