A resin composition which can enhance the heat resistance and the humidity resistance of a dye possessing the maximum absorption at wavelengths in the range of 380&#x2013;780 nm is provided. It is obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture containing 5&#x2013;100 wt. % of a monomer represented by the formula: CH&#x2550;CR&#x2014;COOX (wherein R denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and X denotes a hydrocarbon group of 4&#x2013;25 carbon atoms) and/or a fluorine atom-containing unsaturated monomer and containing a dye possessing the maximum absorption at wavelengths in the range of 380&#x2013;780 nm in an acryl type resin having an acid value in the range of 0&#x2013;30 mgKOH/g and a hydroxyl value in the range of 0&#x2013;30 mgKOH/g.

The base protective layer includes a polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing at least one selected from monomers having an ultraviolet absorptive group of the formula (1) or (2) in the description, and the surface protective layer is formed as an outermost layer of the resinous article.

Provided herein are a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing at least an ultraviolet-stable polymerizable monomer and a cycloalkyl group-containing polymerizable monomer, a process for producing said copolymer, and a coating composition containing said copolymer. The copolymers retains outstanding weather resistance over a long period of time owing to the multiplicated effect of an ultraviolet-stable monomer and a cycloalkyl group-containing polymerizable monomer, and the coating composition containing the copolymer forms a coating film having superior gloss, buildability, solvent resistance, and chemical resistance.
