A controller is configured to perform a process of obtaining an exhaust pressure upstream of a filter inside an exhaust passage and an intake air amount detected by an air flowmeter, when the filter in which a deposition amount of particulate matter is a specified amount is referred to as a reference filter, a calculation process of calculating an exhaust pressure rate that indicates a ratio of the obtained exhaust pressure to an exhaust pressure at the reference filter for the obtained intake air amount, and a setting process of setting the exhaust pressure rate that is maintained at a specific value during engine operation.

Controller and control method for internal combustion engine

An engine controller, an engine control method, and memory medium are provided. A second calculation process calculates an intake air amount without using a detection result of an air flow meter. The determination process determines that intake air pulsation is great if it is confirmed that a difference between an average flow rate and a minimum flow rate is great. The average flow rate is an average value of an intake air flow rate within a period of the intake air pulsation. The minimum flow rate is a minimum value of the intake air flow rate within the period. When it is determined that the intake air pulsation is great, a calculation method switching process selects a calculated value of the intake air amount that is obtained by the second calculation process.

Engine controller, engine control method, and memory medium

A first intake air amount an engine is calculated based on a detected value of an intake air flow rate of an air flowmeter. A second intake air amount is calculated based on any one of a detected value of an intake pipe pressure and a throttle opening degree instead of the detected value of the intake air flow rate. When it is determined that the intake pulsation is not large, a difference amount of the second intake air amount from the first intake air amount is calculated. A corrected second intake air amount, which is a sum of the second intake air amount and the difference amount, is set as an intake air amount calculated value when it is determined that the intake pulsation is large.

Engine controller and engine control method

The invention is applied to an internal combustion engine in which fuel cut control is performed. The internal combustion engine has an exhaust gas recirculation system including: an exhaust gas recirculation passage that connects an intake and exhaust passage of the engine; and an exhaust gas recirculation valve that changes a cross section of the exhaust gas recirculation passage. A correlation, which holds during a predetermined period of time immediately after fuel cut control is stopped, between engine rotation speed NE and an index value indicating the amount of burned gas contained in the recirculated exhaust gas that passes through the exhaust gas recirculation valve (Sto S). The correlation is stored in an electronic control unit in advance (S). Immediately after the fuel cut control is stopped, the index value indicating the burned gas amount is computed from the correlation stored in the electronic control unit based on the engine rotation speed NE.

In a device for estimating an amount of intake air of an internal combustion engine, wherein an amount of intake air passing through the throttle valve is calculated by using of an upstream side intake air pressure upstream of the throttle valve and a downstream side intake air pressure downstream of the throttle valve, and an amount of intake air supplied into the cylinder is estimated on the basis of the amount of intake air passing through the throttle valve, the upstream side intake air pressure used at the time when the amount of intake air passing through the throttle valve is calculated is detected or calculated to take account of a pressure loss, produced by at least an air-cleaner, from the atmospheric pressure.
