A substrate fixing device includes a base plate including therein a gas supply section, and an electrostatic chuck provided on the base plate. The electrostatic chuck includes a base having a mounting surface on which a target to be held by electrostatic attraction is mounted, an insertion hole, penetrating the base, having an inner surface that defines the insertion hole and is threaded to form a female thread, and a screw member, having an outer surface that is threaded to form a male thread, and inserted into the insertion hole to assume a mated state in which the male thread mates with the female thread. A gas from the gas supply section is supplied to the mounting surface via the screw member.

Disclosed is a rotary input device including: a rotary operation device; a rotation driving section; a detection section; a force sense presenting section to present a force sense by a combination of at least two of applying the rotary force in a clockwise direction, applying the rotary force in a counterclockwise direction, and stopping applying the rotary force; a display control section; a magnification ratio change instructing section; and a scroll instructing section, wherein the magnification ratio change instructing section instructs enlargement when rotating in one side, and instructs reduction when rotating in the other side; the scroll instructing section instructs on the basis of the depressed position; and the force sense presenting section changes a way of presenting the force sense in order that the operator can perceive a display state pertaining to a display position or a display magnification ratio of the image under display distinguishably.

A haptic feedback controller of the present invention includes: a pointing position detecting sensor which is arranged along a fingertip pointing path and detects a pointing position of a fingertip when a pointing operation is performed along the fingertip pointing path; a haptic feedback imparting device which has a piezoelectric element arranged along the fingertip pointing path and generates vibrations depending on a high frequency voltage when the voltage is applied thereto and an elastic body which is fixed to the piezoelectric element, and imparts predetermined haptic feedback to the fingertip due to vibrations generated by the piezoelectric element; and a piezoelectric element control device which controls the piezoelectric element based on feedback information outputted from controlled equipment. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a haptic feedback controller which is suitable for controlling controlled equipment in response to a pointing operation performed by a user with his/her fingertip and, at the same time, is suitable for equipment such as portable equipment deemed necessary to satisfy demand for reduction of thickness and miniaturization.

The accessory includes a microprocessor and a memory that contains function codes corresponding to the functions selected by the controls. A push-button type automatic pencil includes an outer tubular member which is held in the hand of the user and lead rod holding means for holding the lead rod. A lead rod stepping means of a push button type is provided and the lead rod holding means is mounted within the outer member in such a way that the lead rod holding means is movable relative to the outer member, while still holding the lead rod, when the lead rod is pushed backward relative to the outer member. Accordingly, the breaking of the lead rod while writing is eliminated, and a soft writing feel is achieved.
