To provide controller and control method for internal combustion engine that can suppress motor built in actuator from overheating when waste gate valve is controlled to near fully closed position or fully opened position, and can suppress from causing deterioration of fuel efficiency by consuming large power wastefully even in light load operation region in which pressure of exhaust gas is low relatively. A controller for internal combustion engine calculates basic operating amount for bringing real opening degree close to target opening degree; calculates an operating amount obtained by performing upper limitation of basic operating amount by first limit value, as final operating amount, in case of supercharging driving state; and calculates an operating amount obtained by performing upper limitation of basic operating amount by second limit value smaller than first limit value, as final operating amount, in case of non-supercharging driving state.

Controller and control method for internal combustion engine

The present invention provides a controller and a control method for an internal combustion engine, which can suppress the generation of an annoying collision noise and abnormal heating of a motor of an actuator, which are generated by contact of the output shaft of the actuator with an opening side stopper of the actuator. The controller and the control method for the internal combustion engine are configured such that a target opening (Sv) of the valve is set to the smaller of: a required target opening (Sv_dem) computed so that a target supercharging pressure (Sp) and an actual supercharging pressure (Pp) are matched with each other; and a restricted target opening (Sv_lmt) computed based on a fully closed position learning value (Pv_lrn), which corresponds to an actual position detected by a position sensor, when the valve is located in the fully closed position, and on the restricted target position.

Provided is a control device for an internal combustion engine, which is configured to: acquire an internal combustion engine required opening degree of the waste gate valve based on the operation state of the internal combustion engine. There is provided a shift range switching apparatus that can perform appropriate fail-safe control when a power source supplied to an electronically controlled shift range switching apparatus is instantaneously interrupted. When due to instantaneous interruption of a power source supplied to the shift range switching apparatus, the shift range switching apparatus is reactivated, a target shift range is determined based on a rotation position of a detent plate detected by a detent position sensor immediately after the reactivation, and the rotation position of the detent plate is controlled.

Provided are a wastegate valve control device for an internal combustion engine and a wastegate valve control method for an internal combustion engine, which are capable of controlling a wastegate valve (WGV) to a desired open/closed state at low cost even when a reference position of the WGV is shifted from a full-closure position of the WGV. When a target WGV opening (control target value) is equal to or smaller than a threshold opening, a given opening is added to or subtracted from the target WGV opening while the WGV is controlled to perform an opening/closing operation based on the target WGV opening. By monitoring a change in throttle upstream pressure or driving current of a WGV actuator, an optimal target WGV opening corresponding to the shift of the reference position with respect to the full-closure position of the WGV is determined.
