Cooking apparatus () includes heating chamber () in which an object to be heated is rested, radiant heater unit () provided inside heating chamber () and operating in the preheating mode and cooking mode, and a control unit controlling radiant heater unit (). The control unit is configured to make radiant heater unit () operate in the standby mode, which is a mode after the preheating mode ends and until the cooking mode starts. According to this aspect, the surface temperature of radiant heater unit () is kept at a high level during the standby mode to suppress uneven browning due to variations in the surface temperature of radiant heater unit () when cooking starts.

Cooking apparatus

A microwave oven includes a waveguide having an E-bend structure with multiple openings disposed on a lateral face of a heating chamber that allow the waveguide to communicate with the heating chamber. The waveguide has a first section for propagating a microwave from a magnetron toward the heating chamber, and a second section having a wide plane that abuts an outer wall of the heating chamber. The openings include at least one circularly-polarized-wave opening for generating a circularly polarized wave. A cross section of the first section orthogonally intersects a tube axis of the first section projects virtually along the tube axis of first section and onto a lateral face of the heating chamber, and the circularly-polarized-wave opening is configured such that its center is located outside the resultant projected region.

Mounting structures for a high-frequency heating apparatus

A high-frequency heating apparatus includes an outer enclosure, a high voltage generator such as a high-voltage capacitor, and an air guide, wherein the air guide is provided with a plastic hinge formed by partially reducing a wall thickness thereof. The invented structure can bend the plastic hinge to locate an end flap of air guide in a space between a terminal of the high-voltage capacitor and the outer enclosure defining a dead metal part, to easily ensure electrical insulation between the terminal and the outer enclosure without dependent on variations in quality of workmanship in the manufacturing process. In addition, it can reduce a number of working processes as well as amount of waste since all it requires is to bend the plastic hinge to provide the electrical insulation.

High-frequency heating apparatus

A plurality of slots are provided so as to be located between a thin plate flexible opening section screen member and a heating chamber wall surfacefor allowing insertion of the opening section screen member. A gently-curved bulging surface exists in an area where the heating chamber wall surfaceand the opening section screen memberare mated together. As a result, residual warpage which would otherwise remain when the opening section screen member is warped for attachment becomes invisible, thereby preventing occurrence of clearance, which would cause sparking or the like.
