In a printing press and a method, provided are an offset rotary press for printing predetermined information on a web using a printing plate, a printer for digitally printing specific information desired by a reader and reader identification information at a specific location on a web surface, and a dispatch system for reading the reader identification information on a newspaper, thereby sorting the newspaper by delivery destination. The offset rotary press and the printer are collectively driven by a controller, thereby improving the productivity of printed matter.

Colors of printed materials are easily matched. Provided is a print management system used in a printing system including a plurality of printing presses and performing printing using plates respectively created for each printing press. The print management system includes a tone-curve storage unit for linking and storing identifying information of the printing presses and tone curves for the printing presses; a communication device for obtaining binary image data from a host system; a binary-image-data correction unit for creating binary image data for each of the printing presses by correcting the binary image data using the tone curves stored in the tone-curve storage unit; and CTPs for creating respective plates for each of the printing presses on the basis of the corrected binary image data.

Print management system, method and computer-readable medium containing program for the same

A method and a system for printing management, with the intension of appropriate color management performed in a newspaper print site in which a number of newspaper rotary presses of two or more types are provided, obtain image data representing each page edited in multilevel image data along with associated data concerning the page and makes a printing plate based on the image data and concurrently select a newspaper rotary press and a print material used for printing the page based on the multilevel image data and the associated data; perform color correction of the multilevel image data in accordance with the types of the selected rotary press and print material based on the color management data previously prepared, which multilevel image data is to be converted into binary image data and used for making a printing plate.
