A vehicle battery life tracking system includes a vehicle battery, an electronic control unit and a wireless communication unit. The vehicle battery has a plurality of individual battery units. The electronic control unit is provided to a vehicle having the vehicle battery. The electronic control unit is programmed to monitor and store chargeability information associated with the individual battery units. The wireless communication unit is provided to the vehicle. The electronic control unit is configured to control the wireless communication unit to upload the chargeability information to an external memory storage upon the occurrence of one or more predetermined incidents.

The low-friction sliding mechanism has an oxygen-containing organic compound or an aliphatic amine compound interposed between sliding surfaces that a DLC coated sliding member and a sliding member form. The low-friction agent composition contains an oxygen-containing organic compound or an aliphatic amine compound. The friction reduction method includes supplying the low-friction agent composition between sliding surfaces that a DLC coated sliding member and a sliding member form. The manual transmission includes, as at least one of sliding members, a DLC coated sliding section. The final reduction gear unit includes, as at least one of sliding members, a DLC coated sliding section.

The present invention relates to a lubricant for lubricating relatively movable, facing contact surfaces at least one of which is coated with DLC, a method of lubricating DLC contact surfaces with this lubricant, and a system having DLC contact surfaces. The present invention relates to a system wherein a pair of relatively movable, facing DLC contact surfaces at least one of which is coated with a DLC film, are further lowered in friction, and the low friction property is stably maintained. The present invention also relates to a lubricant for the system, and a lubricating method. The lubricant for the system having the DLC contact surfaces contains lubricant base oil (A) mainly composed of base oil (X), and sulfur-containing molybdenum complex (B). The base oil (X) is at least one of hydrocracked mineral oils, wax-isomerized mineral oils, and poly-&#x3b1;-olefin base oils, and has a kinematic viscosity of 2 to 20 mm/s at 100&#xb0; C., a total aromatic content of not higher than 5 mass %, and a total sulfur content of not higher than 0.005 mass %.

A low-friction sliding member such as a piston, a piston ring, a piston skirt section and a cylinder liner section of an internal combustion engine. The low-friction sliding member includes a base material having a surface. A hard carbon thin film is formed at at least a part of the surface of the base material. Here, a tribo-film having at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of ether linkage, oxido and hydroxyl group is formed on the hard carbon thin film when the hard carbon thin film is in slidable contact with an opposite member in presence of an organic oxygen-containing compound.

A low-friction sliding member in a transmission is at least one of sliding members which are in slidable contact with each other in presence of a transmission oil composition. The low-friction sliding member includes a base material having a sliding section. A hard carbon thin film is coated at a sliding surface of the sliding section of the base material. The hard carbon thin film contains hydrogen in an amount not more than 20 atomic %. The transmission oil composition contains at least one of organic oxygen-containing compound and aliphatic amine compound.

There is provided a refrigerant compressor including compressor parts having sliding portions slidable relative to each other and a refrigeration oil applied to the sliding portions of the compressor parts.
