A medium discharge device includes: a discharge unit that discharges a medium; a first medium receiving tray that receives the medium discharged by the discharge unit; and a second medium receiving tray that is provided above the first medium receiving tray in a vertical direction and receives the medium discharged by the discharge unit. The second medium receiving tray is capable of changing a position between an advance position for receiving a medium, which is discharged, by causing at least an upstream zone of the tray including an upstream side end portion in a medium discharge direction to advance to a passing route of the medium from the discharge unit toward the first medium receiving tray and a retraction position to which the upstream zone retracts from the passing route.

Medium discharge device and recording apparatus

A printing apparatus includes a print unit; a first roller that transport the medium; a plurality of second rollers cooperating with the first roller to nip the medium therebetween at positions that face the first rollers; a third roller that holds the medium which has been transported by the first roller and transport the medium to a print path in which printing is performed by the print unit; a specific second roller located most downstream in the transportation path among the second rollers; and a control unit that controls each of the roller and the print unit, wherein the control unit causes the specific second roller to be displaced to a separated position after the medium is held by the third roller.

Printing apparatus

A printing apparatus that is capable of executing, based on printing data, printing onto a first side of a printing medium and printing onto a second side, which is the back side of the first side, after the printing onto the first side is provided. A print density of a predetermined region at a rear end of the printing medium in a transporting direction at a time of printing of the first side is identified based on the printing data. Conversion data, which is a conversion coefficient to make the identified print density equal to or lower than a predetermined density, is acquired. The printing data is converted by means of the conversion data. Printing onto the first side is executed based on the converted printing data.

When printing is performed on a medium, a computer of a printing apparatus acquires a space (a PLG level number and a thickness of the medium) between a surface of the medium and a print head, which is formed when an ink is discharged onto a medium from the print head in a printing unit. A high speed/low speed of a carriage speed (print speed mode), print color (monochrome/color), and a transport region (normal region/lower end region) as a transport position of the medium are determined. A calculation expression is selected according to the carriage speed, the print color, and the transport region, and a correction amount according to a gap length is calculated using the selected calculation expression. Also, the transport distance is corrected using the correction amount. Transport control is performed by the transport distance.

Printing apparatus and printing control program

A print apparatus includes a conveyance unit configured to convey a print medium over a plurality of convexities that are arranged along a direction of scanning and the control unit. When one end position of the print medium has been detected by a detection unit, in a case where the one end position is a position that overlaps with position of the convexities stored in a storage unit, the control unit is configured to control a detection of the other end position of the print medium and determine the one end position on the basis of the other end position.

Print apparatus

A serial inkjet printer includes a recording head having a plurality of nozzles between which a pitch is X inches, a carriage, a first roller pair, and a second roller pair. The first roller pair is configured to move a medium at an upstream side of a conveyance direction of the medium relative to the recording head, and includes a drive roller with a hollow structure and a driven roller. A circumferential length Y of the drive roller is 2 to 4 inches. When a length along the conveyance direction of a row formed by the nozzles is Z inches, Y is greater than Z. While repeating scanning of the recording head and conveying of the medium, recording is performed in band units at a printing speed of 20 to 30 ipm, and stop error precision of the medium during conveyance is X/2 inches or less.

Serial inkjet printer

A printer includes a pair of input rollers, a pair of output rollers, a print head and a control section. The control section is configured to transport a print medium by rotating the input rollers and the output rollers after printing on a target region and before printing on a next target region. The control section is configured to determine, before carrying out transporting, whether a combination of the input rollers and the output rollers which pinch the print medium would change in a case where the print medium were transported from a current position to a next target position, and, in a case where there would be a change, the control section being configured to transport the print medium from the current position to the target position in a retracted state where the print head is moved to an outside of a range where the print medium passes.

Printer

When a paper jam is detected, in the case where the cause of the paper jam is a CR motor error in which the speed of the carriage is decreased by as much as a load when the paper jam occurs and becomes equal to or less than a set speed, when there is an instruction to continue printing, cleaning is performed on a printing head. In this case, it is determined whether the paper position is particularly in a one-side supporting range in which the paper is supported by only one pair of transporting roller pairs provided in each of an upstream side and a downstream side of a transporting direction of the paper with interposing of a moving path of the printing head. Then, it is preferable that cleaning be performed as long as the paper position is in the one-side supporting range.

Printing apparatus and printing method

A liquid ejection apparatus includes an apparatus main body, a liquid ejection head which is provided on the apparatus main body and ejects liquid onto a recording medium, a draw-out path which is provided on the apparatus main body, a waste liquid unit which is provided on the draw-out path in a detachable manner and reserves waste liquid wastefully ejected from the liquid ejection head, an opening from which a transportation path for transporting the recording medium is exposed, and an opening/closing unit which is provided to be capable of opening and closing the opening, and at least a part of which is located on the draw-out path and covers at least a part of the waste liquid unit in a state where the waste liquid unit is attached to the draw-out path and the opening is closed.

Liquid ejection apparatus

In a feeding course, a first design side end position Xsn of a paper is calculated. A first side end position of the paper is detected by a paper width detector, and the detected position is set to a first side end position Xd. When the paper is fed from an additional cassette and a paper end detection flag F=1, an ejection starting position adjustment amount &#x394;X=Xd&#x2212;Xsn is set. However, when the deviation amount is not |Xd&#x2212;Xsn|&#x2266;L, the ejection starting position adjustment amount &#x394;X is limited to a limit value L.

Recording apparatus and recording method in recording apparatus

An ink jet printer includes a movable carriage supporting a recording head, a cam member adjusting the height position of the carriage to adjust the distance between the paper and the recording head, a cap member that can abut the recording head, and an engagement member that can engage with the carriage in a case where the carriage moves from a printing area to a head opposing position. The cam member adjusts the height position of the carriage when the distance between the paper and the recording head is between a first distance in which the carriage does not engage with the engagement member and a second distance in which the carriage engages with the engagement member. The carriage is decelerated while moving, and the deceleration timing is earlier for the second distance than for the first distance.

Liquid ejecting apparatus

A medium feeder is operable to feed a target medium to a liquid ejecting section in which liquid is ejected toward the target medium. A feeding roller is adapted to come in contact with the target medium, thereby feeding the target medium along a feeding path in a first direction. A supporter is opposing the feeding roller and having a supporting face adapted to support the target medium. A releaser is movable between a first position entering the feeding path and a second position retreating from the feeding path, A driver is operable to place the releaser in the second position when a feeding operation of the feeding roller begins, and to place the releaser in the first position when a leading end of the target medium reaches the liquid ejecting section. An edge guide is provided on the supporter and has a guiding face adapted to come in contact with a side edge of the target medium at least when the releaser is placed in the second position. The releaser is adapted to push up the target medium at the first position thereof, so that the target medium is separated from the supporting face. The edge guide is formed with a concave portion adapted to oppose the side edge of the target medium pushed up by the releaser.

Medium feeder and liquid ejecting apparatus or recording apparatus incorporating the same

A recording apparatus is provided including: a recording medium setting portion on which a plural recording media are set in a stacked state; a feed roller that feeds a recording medium set on the recording medium setting portion in a feeding direction; a recording medium return lever that returns a recording medium next or subsequent to a recording medium continuously fed out from the recording medium setting portion along with the recording medium to be fed; a control unit that controls the recording medium return lever; and a recording unit that performs recording on the recording medium, wherein the control unit controls the recording medium return lever so that the position is switched from a first position, a second position and to a third position.
