A biometric authentication system, including an image input unit configured to obtain an image by imaging a living body, a storage unit configured to store registration information relating to a plurality of biological features obtained from a biological region of an image of each person, and an authentication processing unit configured to process the biological region of the image obtained by the image input unit to execute biometric authentication based on the registration information, wherein the plurality of biological features obtained from the biological region of the each person are a plurality of biological features having a low pattern correlation with one another, and wherein the authentication processing unit is configured to combine the plurality of biological features having a low pattern correlation with one another, which are obtained by processing the image, to execute the biometric authentication.

It is provided a biometric authentication system, which is configured to execute authentication by using registered biometric information, the biometric authentication system comprising: a light source unit configured to irradiate a living body with light; an image pickup unit configured to photograph a vessel image with light radiated from the light source unit and transmitted through the living body; a control unit configured to generate authentication biometric information from the vessel image photographed by the image pickup unit; a category selection unit configured to select a category that corresponds to the authentication biometric information, based on supplementary information including information that has been obtained about a position and posture of the living body at timing of photographing the vessel image; and an authentication unit configured to execute authentication processing by comparing registered biometric information of the selected category and the authentication biometric information.

Biometric authentication system

In the conventional art, there has been a problem that it is difficult to perform, with a high usability and at a high precision, authentication that accepts a wide range of variation of showing attitude of a hand or a finger and ensures obtaining a clear blood-vessel image of a finger. Provided is a blood-vessel image capturing apparatus including an opening portion formed in a surface of a housing, plural light sources disposed beside the opening portion and arranged in a lattice pattern, a sensor configured to obtain position information of a hand shown above the opening portion, a light amount control portion configured to select an irradiation light source to irradiate the hand from the plural light sources on a basis of the position information and control a light amount of the irradiation light source, and an image capturing portion configured to capture an image of a blood vessel included in a finger portion of the hand irradiated with light from the irradiation light source.

Blood vessel imaging apparatus and personal authentication system

An identification apparatus keeps the conditions for imaging uniform among successive identifications, and requires a user to perform only a series of simple maneuvers. The apparatus comprises a guide member, a light source, and an imaging unit. The guide member includes a pattern or structure for a user to position his/her finger thereon or to approach his/her specific finger region thereto. A contact member is located in the guide member where a fingertip is positioned. An optical opening is formed at a position coincident with where a finger to be imaged should be placed. The light source radiates near-infrared light through the portion of the finger to be imaged. The imaging means acquires an image of the finger, and the apparatus compares the image to previously registered images. The apparatus may also include dual light sources power saving functionality, and means for limiting the interference of external light sources.

Personal authentication device

It is provided an authentication system comprising: an input device; an image pickup device for picking up an image of the living body; an image processing unit for processing the image picked up by the image pickup device; a storage device for storing a plurality of pieces of first feature data and a plurality of pieces of second feature data; and a matching processing unit for checking input data, which indicates features of a living body picked up by the image pickup device, against each of the plurality of pieces of first feature data and each of the plurality of pieces of second feature data. Each of the plurality of pieces of second feature data is data that is smaller in size than each of the plurality of pieces of first feature data and that includes at least a part of the features of the living body.

Authentication system using biometric information and authentication device

A primary object of the present invention is to extract a difference in shading of a blood vessel image in a picked up image as information to be used for authentication, and to acquire a larger number of pieces of biometric information from one image. An individual authentication device to be used to authenticate an individual using feature information of a vascular pattern acquired from a living body includes an imaging unit that images a region of the living body serving as an object of authentication, and an arithmetic unit that acquires the picked up image as an authentication image. The arithmetic unit extracts a vascular pattern from the authentication image, and acquires a degree of shading of the vascular pattern as the feature information.

Biometrics authentication device and method

The invention provides a finger vein authentication device using plural fingers that enables the plural fingers to be easily presented while maintaining high authentication precision. A finger vein authentication device according to an embodiment of the invention includes light sources that irradiate light onto fingers; imaging elements that photograph light transmitted through the fingers; and an image processing unit that processes the obtained images. The finger vein authentication device further includes a finger placement table that defines a presentation location of the first finger in an anteroposterior direction and other finger placement tables that define locations of all the fingers in a horizontal direction.

Personal identification is implemented by picking up finger vein patterns when the user naturally grasps a grip such as doorknob. The device for personal identification has a light source provided to irradiate light on the finger from the palm side, a camera to pick up the vessel image of the finger, and a processor to extract features of the vessel from the image and compare the obtained features with the registered ones. The camera picks up the light that exits from the backside of the finger after penetrating it.

A personal identification apparatus includes a finger inlet into which a finger inserted; an interface where the finger is introduced through the finger inlet; a plurality of light sources provided inside the interface to irradiate light to the finger from a plurality of directions; image pick-up units being respectively arranged opposite to the plurality of light sources and respectively capturing an image from light transmitted from the plurality of light sources through the finger; a unit for adjusting when the plurality of light sources transmit light onto the finger; and a unit for extracting blood vessel patterns contained in images captured by the image pick-up units from the light transmitted though the finger and collating each of the extracted blood vessel patterns with a registered blood vessel pattern for personal identification.
