A wireless power supply system is provided to include a headset and a vehicle-side system. The headset, which is attached to a head of a driver of a vehicle, is configured (i) to generate an electric power by using a received electromagnetic wave, (ii) to actuate a sensor with the generated electric power to measure an activity of the driver, and (iii) to transmit activity measurement data indicating a measurement result. The vehicle-side system, which is provided to the vehicle, is configured (i) to transmit the electromagnetic wave, (ii) to receive the activity measurement data from the headset, and (iii) to monitor the activity of the driver based on the received measurement data. The transmitting or receiving state of the electromagnetic wave is monitored to provide a monitoring result, which is to be notified.

A driver's action at a target intersection in a guided route is predicted based on driving data. When the driver is attempting to go straight ahead at a target intersection where the driver should make a turn, or when the driver is attempting to make a turn at a target intersection where the driver should go straight ahead, the predicted driver's action is determined to disagree with the guided route. In this case, an execution of an audio guidance is performed but re-execution is awaited for a predetermined period. Further, when the driver is attempting to go straight ahead at a target intersection where the driver should make a turn, an audio guidance is executed after a distance to the target intersection is determined to be smaller than a required distance computed from a vehicle speed.

A dynamic contour extracting means detects, using a dynamic contour extraction method generally known as SNAKE, a contour of a recognition object included on an image by the following steps: a curve with control points is disposed in an image; an internal energy Eint indicating smoothness of the curve, an image energy Eimage, and an external energy Eext are summed up; and the curve is modified so that the summed total energy becomes the minimum. Here, a template is stored for including disposition information of primary control points that are bound to be moved only in a vertical or horizontal direction based on a road shape. The dynamic contour extracting means moves the primary control points based on the template. The primary control points can be rapidly moved owing to their limited movement direction.

Road position detection

A driver's gaze distribution is detected. Based on the detected distribution, an image corresponding to a driver's visual-field is extracted from images photographed by a front monitor camera and is accumulated. A first driver's gaze probability distribution necessary for steering operation is computed based on the accumulated images, and a second driver's gaze probability distribution that is expected is computed based on visual characteristics within the images. An ideal gaze probability distribution is obtained by adding up the first and the second probability distributions. Presence of a risk is determined when the difference between the driver's gaze and the ideal gaze probability distribution becomes a given threshold. A windshield display or a speaker outputs the determined result.

An interface for car-mounted devices includes hand data detecting means for determining devices to be controlled among the car-mounted devices based upon hand data corresponding to an operator hand state, voice recognizing means for determining how to change the state of the devices to be controlled based upon an operator voice utterance, and control signal-forming means for forming control signals for the devices to be controlled relying upon the devices to be controlled determined by said hand data detecting means and upon the content of change determined by said voice recognizing means.

In a distributed control method of executing distributed control such that a lot of tasks distributively executed in a lot of nodes connected to a network and made to implement multitasking operations communicate a message with each other to operate cooperatively in time sequence, an estimated completion time of the distributed control is calculated by summing up the worst execution times of the processing times of all tasks pertaining to the distributed control and the communication times of all messages between the tasks and an initial value of a margin time with respect to a deadline is determined by subtracting the estimated completion time from a control cycle of the distributed control. This margin time is set for each of all the distributed control to be executed on the system and is sequentially updated in accordance with the states of the tasks and messages. The processing on the tasks or the transmission of the messages is made preferentially in the order of lengthening margin time. This assures a response time and deadline condition to be required in distributed control without imposing an excessive burden on a designer of a distributed control system.
