A light source device includes: blue, green, and red laser light sources; a first retardation plate that controls polarization of blue laser light emitted from the blue laser light source; a polarizing beam splitter that separates the blue laser light whose polarization is controlled by the first retardation plate into a first blue laser light and a second laser light; a second retardation plate that controls polarization of the second blue laser light separated by the polarizing beam splitter; a fluorescent plate that is excited by the first blue laser light separated by the polarizing beam splitter and emits fluorescent light including a green component and a red component; a first dichroic mirror that combines the second blue laser light whose polarization is controlled by the second retardation plate and light emitted from the green and red laser light sources, to generate combined laser light; a dynamic diffuser plate that diffuses the combined laser light combined by the first dichroic mirror to generate diffused laser light; and a second dichroic mirror that combines the diffused laser light diffused by the dynamic diffuser plate and the fluorescent light emitted from the fluorescent plate.

A light source apparatus includes a plurality of laser light sources configured to emit color light rays having multiple wavelength bands. The light source apparatus further includes a plurality of dichroic mirrors configured to combine the color light rays and output combined color light rays; and a dynamic diffusion plate configured to diffuse incident light rays from the plurality of dichroic mirrors so as to remove speckles specific to laser beams. One of the plurality of dichroic mirrors is configured to reflect blue light, and each of the plurality of laser light sources includes a blue laser light source. The blue laser light source is configured to generate a P-polarized short-wavelength-band laser beam, and an S-polarized long-wavelength-band laser beam having a wavelength longer than a wavelength of the P-polarized short-wavelength-band laser beam.

The light source device according to the present disclosure includes: a solid-state light source that emits red light having a luminous flux; a solid-state light source that emits green light having a luminous flux; a solid-state light source that emits blue light having a luminous flux; a dichroic mirror that combines, into combined light, the red light, the green light, and the blue light having exited from the respective solid-state light sources; a dynamic diffusion plate on which the combined light having exited from the dichroic mirror is incident; and a luminous-flux splitting element that splits the luminous flux that having exited from the solid-state light sources for emitting at least one of the red light, the green light, and the blue light.

The light source device and the projection display apparatus include a solid-state light source unit, a dichroic mirror, a fluorescent plate, a first wave plate, and a multi-reflection mirror. The solid-state light source unit emits first and second linearly polarized light rays at a predetermined ratio, the first and the second linearly polarized light rays being orthogonal to each other. The dichroic mirror separates the first and the second linearly polarized light rays, and combines blue light with yellow light. The fluorescent plate emits the yellow light to the dichroic mirror when the fluorescent plate is excited by the first linearly polarized light ray separated by the dichroic mirror. The first wave plate converts the second linearly polarized light ray separated by the dichroic mirror, into circularly polarized light. The multi-reflection mirror reflects the circularly polarized light to the dichroic mirror as the blue light.

A light source device has a blue solid-state light source, a red solid-state light source, a first retardation plate, a dichroic mirror, a phosphor plate, a second retardation plate, and a reflector. The first retardation plate causes light from the blue solid-state light source to have a phase difference. The dichroic mirror provides the light from the blue solid-state light source with polarization separation, receiving the light from the blue solid-state light source and light from the red solid-state light source in an identical direction. The phosphor plate emits fluorescence light, excited by one light, separated by the dichroic mirror. The second retardation plate converts, into circular polarization, polarization of the light from the red solid-state light source and other light, separated by the dichroic mirror. A light source device according to the present disclosure includes: a plurality of solid-state light source units; a polarization combination mirror for combining polarized lights incident from the plurality of the solid-state light source units; a half-wavelength plate having a strip shape, for converting a polarization azimuth of one of polarized lights coming from the polarization combination mirror; another half-wavelength plate for controlling proportions of intensities of polarization components of the polarized lights incident from the former half-wavelength plate; a dichroic mirror for separating the polarized lights incident from the latter half-wavelength plate; a phosphor plate for emitting light, upon being excited by the polarized light having been separated by the dichroic mirror.

The light source apparatus of the present disclosure includes a solid-state light source, a dichroic mirror for reflecting blue excitation light emitted from the solid-state light source, a phase difference plate for receiving the excitation light reflected on the dichroic mirror, a fluorescent plate having a fluorescent region irradiated with the excitation light, which is reflected on the dichroic mirror and transmitted through the phase difference plate, to emit fluorescent light and a reflection region for reflecting the excitation light, and a plurality of condenser lenses that are disposed between the phase difference plate and the fluorescent plate and condense the excitation light and the fluorescent light.
